When you get to Teras Kasi Master you will be able to do 300 points of damage or so with a considerable fast attack speed. Faster than a ranged player could only dream abut doing. And well crafted Scout Blasters are fast.
Right now with 0/0/3/1 I attack once second, sometimes 2 or 3 times (with a Vibroknuckler). When I'm fighting big MOBs I can often do two more attacks by the time my pets do another attack and they attack every 2.0 seconds. One time I got lucky and did 4 300-350 point hits before my GSP could do his attack. That's two hits per second and roughly 1200 points of damage within a 2 second time span with the regular attack mode.
It's a good idea to always keep a VK on you at all times, and a good set of armor. I normally fight unarmored and without my VK equipped unless it gets nasty and I have about 2-3 MOBs aggroing me. Then I'll quickly throw on my armor and eqip my VK. It also makes them last a lot longer.

VKS increase the amount of base dmg you do PLUS increase the amount of actual damage you do due to the light armor piercing
For example..someone WITH VKs that does 1000 base dmg will do more actual damage than someone WITHOUT VKs who hits for the same 1000 base damage
Reasons to unequip them:
1. Using heavy HAM specials
2. The mob keeps givin you the out of range message
3. They are at 1 condition ![]()
4. Gettin kitied like a mofo and need to use a gun

Did someone ever try to eat food like Ryshcate before using styled VK hits? Those give about 300-350 str/qui/foc and you can eat 2 at a time. That will give about 600-700 additional str/qui/foc. I am not Teras Kasi yet. But will be Novice soon and do some trials with my food then (I am also a Master Chef). Gonna post if I find a good food combination.
So far I mostly use Sunburns(+1700 str/sta+Thaktillo +250 Health/Str/Con) for PVE.

VKs are armor piercing ... nuff said.
Yep... they are.
I beleive VKs could use a lot of work though. Especially when it comes to the condition. If I use VK's all day long as much as I play I can go through 1 new VK every day. Especially on Dantooine a set of VKs go very fast.
Blasters last a considerable long amount time unless you spam overcharge shot all day. For me blasters last 3x as long as VKs do. Since the HAM cost is such a joke on the VKs they should last almost an eturnity. VKs are melee, kinetic, not energy based. Take a piece of steel and bang it against something all day. It won't be depleted by the end of the day. They should last longer than a blaster would. Blasters should have "X" amount of shots before needing to have a Weaponsmith recharge it with more energy. Or have an X% amount of energy remaining before needing to be recharged.
I find myself fighting more without VKs than I do with VKs. I'm at Power Techniques III so I do about 200-250 points of damage per hit without a VK. The only time I use a VK is if I'm on a big hunt on a planet like Endor.

My VKs last a long time, but then... ...I don't do specials while they are armed. That makes a difference.
