I think SOE or the devs should get rid of the radar. yes it's helpful when you want to find enemies, but it's a tactic used for marksman. If they can see your red dot when you're 129-256 meters away, then how can you "sneak" up on them. They see you comming. and in real life, you wouldn't be able to pull out a radar and say oh this person went overt by takling to a recruiter 256 meters away from here.

When being kited...run AWAY from your target.
When they see you run they will turn around to "chase" you down.
When you see them start to chase after you, hit /burst and /follow.
You will be on top of your target before he realizes what happened.
Then beathis love of the Rebels out of him.

Edit: I just realized the previous poster said everything I just did...oh well...
Melee classes SHOULD be at a disadvantage. Think about it. You're within 40m of someone with a flamethrower with nothing but your fists. By the time you get there you're probably burning to death. If you find a way to close the distance and get right on top of him, then the ranged has the disadvantage. Thats just how its balanced.
Use dizzy/lunge 1 (or 2 if you have Master Brawler...lunge has a much greater range than knockdown) to get them to at least stop for a second, if not fall down. Don't forget burst run. A lot of times the guys kiting aren't using burst run, so that might take them by surprise.

not that the rest of your arguement isnt valid, but flame thower speacils only have a 16 meter range... but the point is still there

I pleaded with the Devs half a year before the game even went to Beta for players to not appear on the RADAR.
They ignored me.

In real life I can't strap a vibrating pizza cutter on my hand and run up to a guy with a flamethrower, knowing that if he burns me to a crisp my clone will be ready to take revenge.
Don't bother ever using "real life" as an argument to improving combat.
