When I mastered TKA the first time around when the game came out, you had no choice but to take your time to gain experience. It was downright deadly, otherwise. Too bad the people who say "7 months is too long" couldn't have experienced that.
Granted, the 2nd time I mastered TKA I blazed through it. Shhh.

TK is by far the funnest profession I have ever done. The grind for it is a little bit of a pain but very worth it. Nothing brings me as much joy as being able to beat the hell out of a fambaa in 7 seconds that used to eat me in 6 previously. And nunas shutter at the sound of my name. Cherish your newly found master.

Every class "sucks" in PvP unless they are jedi/rifleman/combat medic.
But, every class is able to PvP extremely well. TKAs are the strongest melee (yes, better than fencers since everyone now have stun composite and TKAs are easily able to defeat fencers) type. We have mind hit, meditate, powerboost for some extra HP, crowd control, we have everything rolled up into 1 class. And the most important thing we have, states. Yes, in PvP, states are your friend. Every 10 seconds you should apply blind/dizzy/stun/intimidate. When a target is KD, your 3rd hit should be dizzy.
One downfall to us being so powerful is that all we do is Kinectic damage. Yes, it means we cannot defeat all types of mobs in the game. Does it matter? No, because unless they have have 100% resists, our DPS is still insanely high.
Plus, in TRUE PvP, there is no 1v1 anymore. There is no solo buffed PvP. Its about learning how to play with another person and learn how to tag-team your target. One example is a TKA takes care of the crowd control and states then attacks while a swordsman is able to focus on damage to the mind.

I think this has now become a who mastered faster thread. Which it's your opinion that seven months is too long but I felt like staying sane through the process. During play time I did not always grind TK, alot of times I was hanging out with friends, working on medic/doc, collecting resources, working on scout, ranger... Doing loot missions, visiting POI's Buying armor and weapons... I've experienced most of what the game has to offer and worked on TK when I felt need to. I didn't see it as a race to the finish line, I intend on playing this game for a while and didn't see a reason to rush through the profession. But again if you wanted to do it in 24 hours good for you.
But as far as the poor in pvp comment, I've been pvp'ing before I got to master and have been quite good at it. Aside from the rebels who used the LOS exploit to take out Overt imps (I myself am one) who load in starports then blast and /burst away i've won most battles i've entered into.

Well there are ways to compete in pvp with bugged classes.. Usually it costs alot... Actually TKM is one of the cheapest.. Its all about the equipment there.. Fencers gotta go out and buy their uber acklay batons. Swordsman gotta spend millions on exceptional weapons, acklay hammers and ridiculous prices for attachments. I think this maybe the most expensive profession atm. And pikeman become "melee cm's" as my friends dub it.. Shelling out millions for mind fire lances etc. 2nd to swordsman unless they decide to go all out and buy attachments and such.
Well now for ranged.. Rifles got it pretty easy give them a well sliced jawa and they're ready to go.. If they have the money to spend they can get themselves a nice krayt jawa aswell with the attachments.. When I was one for about 6 months or so I just picked up +1's to speed for about 10k at random attachment shops and added up i reached the cap of 97 with spending little more than 100k. Carbineers got to spend for attachments tryi ng to get +25 speed since their speed is so very low. And get some krayt carbines.. And finally for pistoleers most have to buy a nice geo pistols which are pretty pricey...
So there are ways to cope, for some professions they have it abit easier... So its not impossible to compete if your not one of those underlined professions.. Idunno how I got to this subject... Carry on..

Good luck trying the ole day at the jinda cave trick now.. Atleast on my server. You'll have to compete with the 5-10 jedi who whore it daily. And they're speedy.
