Thread: /Con evaluation for TKA seems completely out of whack

While I agree that con is basically useless - every game has this problem that its players want to be heros. Everyone wants the ability to be able to take out creatures far more powerful than they should be able to.

Killing a red con is one of the ways people guage their power. If they can kill reds, then they must be powerful. It doesnt entirely matter if they are just as powerful as the other 100 characters standing nearby.

I suspect you would get loads and loads of whining posts if the average character could only just solo white cons!

I seem to remember plenty of outcry near the beginning of DAOC where many classes struggled to solo killcreatures of an even con - yet that is precisely what an even con is supposed to mean- you have a 50% chance of survival - its an even match! I hated DAOC so I dont know if this ever changed.

"I just feel that the devs really need to sit down and evaluate the raw power potential for certain professions. They appear to only take damage from nonspecials for measuring how powerful someone is. But frankly even with TKA novice the white cons which should be a 50/50 chance of winning die within around 3 hits, a single hit if you use unarmedhit2 usually. Give that it's a fact a 50/50 battle for a TKA novice is actually CL30 not CL15."

Yay, more nerf herders!

How much nerfing is needed before people are happy?

The whole CL rebalance which the devs made such a big deal about is supposed to be more accurate because of that if something is a white con then it should really be 50/50. Yellow should always have a good chance of defeating you and red should on every single occasion rip you limb from limb. I really think they need ratings higher than red, such as something which where you will bearly make a dent (maybe apurple color dot)and then the ones which will kill you in one hit (which could be grey or black dot).

Think before you open your mouth and declare something when you have not even understood what someone was saying. I stated that the con system needs revising to reflect the power of the players more accurately, not that the players need to be nerf'd. The fact is that when you sit yourself in the position of the devs and look at the kill stats for servers they are asking themselves why mobs which are designed to be extremely tough are being solo'd or why mobs which are supposed to be far more powerful than the player are being killed so much. That will invariably lead to them nerfing the profession because all they are seeing are the raw numbers from kills. What they need to do is step back and realise that it's not the players that are overpowered, it's the fact that these mobs are not actually as tough as the con and CL ratingsystems claims they are.

I started a TKA/Chef on the testcentre, it's working out quite nicely actually. I strongly susspect it's going to be just as valuable as the TKA/Doc combo once you master the foods. I haven't played my Ranger/BE on Ahazi for ages, no need to after gaining 4.5 million really....

I stopped paying attention to the con color ages ago, long before TK Novice. I bound /examine to a key instead and use that along with the HAM of the opponent. Most "reds" are a joke, but the ones with 90%+ kinetic or heavy armor aren't. Still it's a good feeling, dispatching a red with ease

This is exactly what I was saying above - most people want to kill red cons as it makes them feel powerful.

Personally, I would like to see a more dynamic character specific con system. After all, a Master Pistoleer whose best weapon is a 166 max damage FWG5 shouldnt have the same con as a Master Pistoleer with a Krayt enhanced 400+ max damage FWG pistol!

I personally think thatyourcon colour should adjust based on what you kill. If you always solo rancors, then over time, Rancors (and anything the game considers easier) should start becoming even con and eventually easy consif you are killing them easily.

The game should also dynamically rate the creatures too. Creatures that are rarely killed will tend to increase in con levels (and xp rewards). Creatures that are commonly killed will start to reduce in con and xp. After all, why should we gain the same experience by killing our 10000th sharnaff as we did for killing our first one?

I Myself Have just reached TKA novice, and while i find that the amount of damage i can do is phenamunal....i well expected it to be....after 1000 exp (unarmend 1) then 5000 exp (unarmed 2) then 10000 exp (unarmed 3) then 70000 exp (unarmed 4) and finally 125000 exp (TKA novice) i think that i the profession is perfectly balanced because it TAKES FOREVER to get it

Also on a note from Star Wars History those who practiced theway of TKA took lifetimes to learn and solely devoted themselves to it, I believe that nothing in this profession should be changed or altered and i believe it is perfectly balanced

On a side note although i may be able to do 1200 damage with unarmed hit 2....in PVP a master bounty hunter 50 meters away with a lightning cannon will kill me before i can get close enough to even use the attack....everything has there weaknesses....thats one of TKA's

I woudn't say perfectly balances, the pricision striking specials seem kinda of redundent now that I have one of them but thats just a minor niggle really. What I really think is that the meditation branch needs it's own exp. As you said a true TK master would spend a lifetime mastering the finer arts of the skills and to be fair beating the crap outta stuff to become better at meditating simply doesn't sit well with me. I'm not suggesting that we should be forced to sit down for ages simply meditiating but it would be nice if you only gained exp from healing using this method or using the specials within it. Frankly i think meditiating should also heal BF since if meditation isn't relaxing then I dunno what is.
