In any books or star wars movies do you see any Jedi in armor?

It isnt the robe itself that has defences it is the Force of the Jedi that enhance it, that is why after pub 9 Jedi cant wear armor and use saber at the same time

Same thing with Teras Kasi they are able to focus there mind to the point of curing diseases and healing wounds just by thinking

So nuckman, you're agreeing with what I say then? A jedi would be as well defended in a T-Shirt and slacks as in robes, since its not the robes that give him power; rather the freedom of movement coupled with his mastery of the force.

When I say duelists regalia as an armor: I don't know if anyone here fences in real life... Imagine one of those padded suits, SWG style, minus the wire helmet. You can move very freely, and with SW technology, you could put some sort of flexible armored mesh instead of cotton padding. This would give the effect of allowing complete freedom of movement (0 encumberance) and a bonus against melee damage.

Yes that is exactly right if you watch obi one and anakin in teh new movies they just have a cloak and regular semi-fancy cloths, now only if saber block workek in teh game as much as it did in the movies..

grinding for Jedi xp will be a pain for the lower jedi because they have crapier robes

Don't one star the original poster, he asked a simple question. Use your words if you disagree, a retarded monkey can mash the one star button.

And As for a robe, I like the Idea of TKs getting robes that only they can wear. Perhaps a certificiation at TK Mystic, and TK Monk with some robes that would really stand out.

The way I look at things...

Jedi are supposed to be hiding and rare. Right? Well how is it helping them hide if they are the only ones who can wear robes? The might as well be wearing a big neon sign saying "Come get me IMPs Im a Jedi".

For a short term fix you could always try killing Meatlumps for a few days strait. If your lucky you can loot a rare robe that looks really cool if you get the right colors.

[edit] Ha, My own post proves that the one star ninjas are incapable of a simple response to express their opinion.

I can't imagine a robe doing much good against kinetic damage, though special materials could help with other damage types. With either melee or ranged, someone who really knows how to use a robe/cloak can throw off an opponent's level of accuracy. Think bullfighter here. In the SCA it's fairly common for fencers to hold a small cloak in the off hand to mess with their opponents. Sometimes it tangles the opponent's blade, and sometimes it's used for distraction. So, it would make more sense as a defensive mod, but not the same as armor.

In the Clone Wars cartoons, Obi Wan can be seen wearing Clone Trooper armor.
