its all about their dizzy defense. mines 70ish and i just hop back up. but if its less they fall on the ground over and over. oh and ps, tk dizzy sucks. fencer dizzy always keeps um down. tk never does for me. im both
Defense Vs. Dizzy only prevents Dizzy from landing on you. It in no way determines if you stand or not after a Kd/dizzy. Also to the original Poster it happens man its a Random thing dizzy just improves the chances of them falling back down sometimes its for a long time sometimes not, and dizzy stacks so the more succesful dizzy hits the harder it is going to be for them to get back up.

Some mobs have natural defense against dizzy.
In addition, don't spam knockdown. If you knock a mob down, and you do another knockdown, for some reason they get up.

I will almost guarantee this was intentionally added. With this in place, you can't just spam a KD move until it works, like you can with intimidate. You can't just fill up your combat queue with a KD move guaranteeing that it will work eventually, because your very next one will cause him to stand back up. It looks like something that was put in intentionally to stop KD from being abused as it has been so much in the past.

Nope, it's a bug and it's one of the issues that our correspondent is hoping to get addressed in the combat revamp.

I learned a lot from all of your threads, but could someone explain how to stick states and KD a pesky rifleman that is running? Also if it isnt too much to ask, could someone summarize a mock battle in a hecktic pvp battle, it seems a lot of these tactics would just take too long in some pvp battles i have been in. But I am new so I could learn a lot if someone on corbantis would be willing to tell me or send me an email and talk a little about pvp. Thanks much!

I've never seen any dev say it was a bug.

Where did they say it wasn't?
We'll see what happens when Ryutek takes it to the developers.

Hehe, exactly. It's been brought to the devs by multiple correspondents and nothing has been said. But it makes some sense, don't you think? This makes it so KD is not spammable, you can't haphazardly hit your KD move over and over until it sticks.

"But it makes some sense, don't you think?"
No it doesn't.
The devs already handled the spamming of KD by implementing the timer.
No other state attacks result in the state being removed by spamming.
It's even clear why the bug exists. You can't KD someone who is already KD. So when you try, the system gets a "failure" response. Unfortunately, the system thinks that if a KD fails, then the target should be standing.

Well, heh, neither of us know. I say that your reason why the bug exists could be the very thing the devs intentionally added.

If the rifleman is really far, let's say 40m or farther and is running away, you run the opposite way. He'll quickly get confused because you're out of range and start running towards you again. At that point, run at him and you could probably get within 20m. At that point, try to get in a warcry.
If you freeze him, try to intimidate him (this won't break the warcry, which lasts 20 seconds, and intimidate works at a range). Once that sticks, run up and try to dizzy him (KD2 is the best move for this). If you can't dizzy/KD him, use lunge1 or lunge2 to get him to kneel or KD him. Try to get him on the ground with a dizzy. Once you do, use Unarmed Hit3 to blind him and Unarmed Stun to stun him, and then probably get on his mind pool with Unarmed Head Hit. Once he gets up he'll be stunned, blinded, and intimidated, and can't do a whole lot. Hopefully he's still dizzy, and either your KD or posture down timer has expired so you can get him on his back again with a KD3 or lunge1.
Note this is what you try to do. PvP is chaotic, lag happens, sometimes the guy burstruns away, sometimes his buddies get you. This is just what you should try to do.
"Also if it isnt too much to ask, could someone summarize a mock battle in a hecktic pvp battle, it seems a lot of these tactics would just take too long in some pvp battles i have been in."
Luckily we're pretty much the only profession guaranteed to hit the speed cap at master. So we can land a lot of states pretty quick. When you face a defense stacker though, it could be impossible or at least not worth the effort to get states on them, so you just rely on your best attack and hope for the best.
Also if possible get all your important attacks on your hotkey bar and practice using them (take a mission with NPCs). Nothing sucks worse than getting confused and spamming the wrong attack, I've done that before.

Ever thought about going Imperial?

Thanks atama-- You mention the Dizzy/KD, should i apply unarmed Dizzy before kd2, or does the dizzy from KD2 fullfill this? Also what is the timer on KD2? Anyone have a recommended Toolbar setup?
