what the hell would be the point of adding some kinda retarded dance if it doesnt do anything and if it did do something it wouldnt do much seeing how tka already has power boost

I love this idea, absolutely love it. They don't have to do anything, they can just be an /emote as far as I'm concerned. If you think they are useless (friggin' Trucho) then you don't have to mess with them. Ryutek, if a dev is interested in this idea I will donate videos of Shotokan karate kata to the art department for SWG free of charge (just to give an idea of what it is).

I would like to see this also. Traditionally Kata/Forms/Poomse were used as a method to retain the specific movements of an art, and pass them along to other students. I could see Teras Kasi performing a kata, and receiving a bonus to defensive acuity, speed, or damage. Just like RL, a Teras Kasi student would learn different kata at various levels or advancement.
We are asking too much with that, everyone already thinks we are overpowered as it is. It is a good idea though. I still think we should just ask for kata /emotes.

You can make a macro that starts with a certain move and ends with a bow. That is a combat thing but it does look like the orderly presentation of a Kata in many ways. Several of my combat macros for PVP do this. All start with a set move to honor the spirt of the location, then combat moves ended with a bow to again honor my defeated opponent.

Its a great idea, but wont happen for a while.
There is a TON of crap fudged up with this game. Teras Kasi is one of the few working professions. Adding this would be a waste of time/resources.
Better to get a combat balance then a cool emote.

I like the idea. The motion capture could possibly be cobled together from our specials with a little less hassle than starting from scratch. To make it worth while ... what if the kata acts as a directedpowerboost, a boostfor someone else? In the same way that a musician use /setPerformance to direct their energy, we would perform the kata, directing it to the group or an individual giving them a boost similar to our powerboost, short time period on it so that docs don't get too pissed ...
It could be equated to that little additional toughness that you feel when you walk out of a good action movie. Watch the TKM perform the kata and you feel tougher for a few minutes.

I like the idea. Could we heal BF with it? Could we heal other's BF with it? Could we give people mind enhancements with it?

The two I bolded are definite no-no's, as those are Entertainer roles...

It will definitely get mentioned, but what I'm doing first is compiling Bugs and Gameplay issues, then a seperate "wishlist" so-to-speak, that incorporates them into one big document. Basically, the next couple weeks will be information gathering and some rough drafts, and then I'll have the final version together and ready to post.
There are a couple of other things that have been mentioned (in other threads)that I need to get included too ![]()

Obviously I dig this idea! I've always liked it
It'd be simple to add to...at this point in time we shouldn't be asking "why add this..." the Devs should be answering "Why not add this?"

Even if they did nothing it's something I'd very much like to see in the game, maybe they could add in some small quests to gain more at differnt levels.
