useless against high-end PvE perhaps, but definetly not at mid-level or lower. I have only just started down the TKA road and it is relatively easy compared to the other proffessions I have tried out.

@topic

i wouldn't say useless.
it just takes knowledge of the profession, it's abillities, drinks and food, gamemechanics and doing the right move or heal at the right time. but most important it takes skill at your mouse and keyboard to handle your toon.

e.g. if you are fighting unbuffed a VK is a NO-NO^^

You can do a lot unbuffed if you know how

its not useless...ive done all three themeparks (reb, imp, jabba's) unbuffed...and fought other stuff unbuffed...its a question of just keeping a closer track on your hams and states on your opponent.

hell just a week ago they finally did a live event on tarq and had spiderclan web somethings invade theed... and i stood toe to toe with 1 without a worry just keeping it intim blind and stun...couldnt do anything else...since it was 100% kin resist...but i could tank while others shot it lol

my hams are 450/500/500 450/500/500 1100/700/700 (or there abouts) and i have a horrible tendancy to forget to powerboost....so i tanked it with essentially 450 hams...and just used warcry to pause it while i healed and re-applied intim...

so no its not useless...but get used to low end buffs...cause thats probably gonna be something that gets a major change...and/or a limited specials pool similar to a jedi's force pool after the revamp

Ahahahaha no.... Everyone so dependant on buffs, it's sad
I use to go out to Dathimor a lot as a TKA and fight unarmored and unbuffed Rancors all day long; twas quite a bit of fun. Sure you actually had to put some effort into killing something, but that's what made it fun, and it was. I long for the old days again.

Yeah, I used to do that as well. I miss the oldschool way of fighting: unbuffed and unarmored. Hehehe, it sure was nice when the devs fixed powerboost back in the day.

i would say this is the only profession that does well unbuffed.... swords and pikes have very high ham costs and fencer attacks fast with ham cost, if you don't havea vk equipped you don't have that bad of ham costs.... I have beat many many buffed people in duels while i am not buffed.

Like any combat class you are going to kill yourself by spamming special attacks if you are not buffed. Although it has been my experience that the HAM cost for TKA is pretty low compared to professions such as Pikeman and Carbineer.

So is the profession useless unbuffed? No I dont believe so...

In my opinion in common PVE situations, being unbuffed is pretty viable as long as your careful not to spam UH-3 constantly. I usually havesomevasarian brandy, some goodStim-B's and occasionally somecanape and Im fine.

Also considering that I have beena Wookiee since release, I leveled up to Teras Kasi, without buffs, armor, or food and I did relatively fine with powerboost and using the occasional muon for an emergency so I have no problem with fighting most mobs unbuffed.

Of course it would be insane to go somewhere such as the DWB or any real high end dungeons without buffs as it is just not viable. As far as pvp goes I can usually duel someone who is buffed no problem, with me just using a few heals, but the biggest killer for me is the fact that I have no extra defense as a Teras Kasi Master/ Master Doctor, so the KD/Dizzy is usually the main factor in which causes my defeat, especially against defense stackers who know what they are doing, and DOT monkeys.

When it comes to fighting unbuffed in a larger scale battle, say 4 or 5 people on each side, for me at least it just isnt viable to fight unbuffed against someone who is fully buffed, wearing composite and is a defense stacker. So for me I CANNOT wait for the Combat Uprgade, as it will allow for a little more thought into fighting other than getting buffed and spamming <insert most powerful attack here>

Yes, I've done Janta/Mokk and Rancor missions unbuffed (took longer, and I had to work more, but it was fun ) One BIG thing everyone needs to know, you CANNOT spam specials. If you kd2 them, then you have a time to just smack em around. Also, VK's make you use a LOT more ham. Just don't use them hehe. It just takes a while to get used to it, I don't know how well I can do now, I haven't tried it since they make the npc's use specials again.

I acctuly find the proffesion very good when unbuffed, the fact that VKs arn't required for starters makes you're HAM costs much lower. You can do so much with a good HAM migration & power boost which so many other proffesions can't.

I personly prefer to fight unbuffed when I can, each week on my server we have a cross-factional hunt which a few of us go hunt unbuffed just for the fun of it, normaly with lots of drink & dying involved as well, but one night for example we took out an SBD unbuffed, there was about 6 of there, I tanked it with just my light comp armour which I always carry & with two brandies & nothing more other then a heal now & then. In the DWB before now I've had my buffs drop & I've continued to tank in just my light armour againest numerous SBDs & other such things.

So personly I think we are far from usless unbuffed as long as you take it easy & keep focused on what you need to do as well as what you're doing at the time, ie not spaming specials but thinking about when you will need a stim or, if the worst happens you can pop a pixie & chew on some Vercupti to get you out of that bad situation.

Eh, I ground this whole profession unbuffed/unarmored a year ago. It took a long time and a lot of incaps. Lots of 15 person groups on Dathomir or Dantooine.

The problem isn't with buffs, its that everyone adjusted their play style and made buffs the most important aspect of this game.

If you make your HAM 1k/1k/1k you can PB it up to 1500 then you can pop a brandy and if you have like 0040 medic...youll do fine unbuffed. I used to go to ft tuskan unbuffed all the time with TKM, this is basically the same for any profession, cept you kinda need PB.
