Well on my ser (bloodfin) almost everyone who PVP's well has good composite. not 60%, but 90% resists to almost everything. The helmests sometimes are 90% , or stun resistant.

basically there are 3 essential things you need. Armor, VKs, and buffs. but when i like to PVP, i like to use Buffs (including mind), my best armor, VK's, food, and spice. It is always great to carry this with you.

Now if you are just depending on your TKA skills to get you through PVP, there are "rules" to use.

-if they are close KD/dizzy and kill em.
-if they are 20m lunge, then get to them.
-if they are 21-30m i like to burst run to them, and they are screwed.

-if they run away, just simply let them. If they really want to kill you they will come back, and you have an advantage. if you are out in the open, try to run the opposite they are runnning. but when you are in town , with buildings, you have the advantage. Learn to dodge in and out, and hide rite where they can not hit you , till they are beside you, and in that case you have them.

im sure everyone has their own style, and you just have to figure it out for yourself.

This is not foolproof though, i still die sometimes. Sometimes you are outnumbered, or the person is more experienced than you. Either way, have fun with it

I have to agree with what others have said. To be effective at PvP, you need buffs, good armor, food/spice, and never underestimate how important it is to have a good group of people to back you up. It's easy to kill the unsuspecting person just doing faction destroy missions and gets a temporary TEF. Oftentimes, they're not wearing armor and are unbuffed. It's easy to defeat most pickup groups. Most of the times they are unbuffed and don't have the necessary support personel, i.e. dedicated doctors for buffs/cures/revives, squad leaders for the added defense/dizzy cure/terrain negotiation bonus/burstrun bonus, musicians for important focus/willpower buff to be able to wear high resist composite armor, dancers for the mind buff.

I can't count the number of times I've been in a pickup group, and everyone in it was a TKM, master riflemen, and combat medic. If we had a doctor, it was usually a TKM/master doctor and that person was more interested in fighting than healing.

Get together with a consistent group and practice, practice, practice. Expect to lose early on, but take the time to learn from each encounter. And dont' get upset when you lose afterall this is just a game

I highly recommend getting some pistoleer and or smuggler. Unarmed KD, Low blow, and Panic shot can stack

I'm sorry, but you CANNOT stack kd's, whether it's a melee or ranged one.

but you can use a kd then panicshot, or for the melee, warcry.

for pvp, avoid ranged when you're out in the open...make them get close to you and land a kd...target mind b/c it's rarely buffed. stick a warcry after you kd them (and make sure they're dizzy)...this way you have them down for a good 15 secs.

any and every melee profession should get master brawler PERIOD! use warcry 2 so they cant shoot... use lunge 2 to knock them down cause they will run away... when you catch up spam dizzy. THEN UNLOAD. Food is a must as is buffs and a good set of comp. Spice is good for a last minute boost right before death

keep vk's off until you can get near. Your range for KD2 is extented greately w/o vk's on. once their down, apply stuff like intimidate, stun/blind, and they'll hurt you for alot less, and hit you less + CoB. Once their down, I would say to assault their weakest point, which is usually mind. Nexus strike is the key attack in PvP. but, since we do Kinetic damage, and only AP1, you should maybe pick up a 2nd prof that will help you lower their HAM, like CM for poisons, then finish with nexus strike, or commando for fire, and finish with body hit.

Iam part swordsman/smuggler/tkm, so no matter what distance they are, I can knock em down from any distance, and once they're down, I can assault their mind with PH. So pretty much, it all comes down to what you want to complement with it.

from what i've seen though, the template mentioned above, CM 4404, is pretty deadly. Once all the ticks go down, you're out of mind, and no more specials for you. That's when you hit burstrun, or lunge/KD2 on them. Vicious )

lol enjoyed mylostats response hugely

my attitued to pvp changed hugely since i dropped all my profs exceped tkm so i could jump on the holo trail to get master tailor.

first of all if you want to be a tka you have to make a sacrifices and admitfew things. first of all were not uber uber pvp killers that were made out to be. yes if 2 inexperienced fighters come up against each othere say a master marksamn novice bh etc. v a tkm and stand infront of each other spamming there best specials the tkm will likly win using knockdown and there better dps ability.

but to be a good tkm there are certain things to take into account.

1) If tkm is your main profession don't bother with armour. it's cumbersome and although it offers some protection if your intending on pvp battles it will enumber your ham too quickly and will prevent you from migrating your stats probably.

2) in both pve and pvp power boost is one of your most useful abilities so migrate your stats to it's best effect. As a tkm most fights will be over quickly so you need less of the secondary stats which effect regeneration and higer health action and mind i have 900, 900, 1020 base ham so on using power boost it adds half the value of my base mind (510)to each stat which gives me 1410, 1410, 1530 HAM this will prevent you using high resist armour but will be better for your battles as you will be able to stay on your feet longer.

3) Now to win as a tka you have to fight smart and use your abilities to your best advantage if you want to get more than your first kill.

i) don't chase targets, if someone runs away from you shooting don't play to their strengths, find cover if they want the kill there have to come back and get close to you.

ii) don't be afraid to run away, your not an uber tank especially if your not buffed which i generally don't bother with anymore in pvp and remember all the other professions have bleed attacks where as you don't so if you can't beat them noe run away and use first aid if you can or find somewhere to meditate the bleed away

iii) use the combat system to your best effect, group tef the tkms most powerful weapon in the galactic civil war allows you to get close to your target and possibly launch a surprise attack on the enemy so they can't retaliate

iv) choose your targets carefully, especially when using a group tef attack those which are dangerous to you (ranged professions) or those that will benifit your group eg. the at st owners if your a rebel or the combat medics, master docs (to prevent ressurections), or the high damage classes such as commando master pistoleers etc then choose the targets as you wish but i find it better to try and eliminate all the randged professions beforeI start on the melee classes as we have melee damage mitigation and defense

v) food and muon, vital,I use tatooine sunburn to improve action regeneration and muon to give me 2k of mind without a muscian buff this is great for al hunting and pvp but yet again you neeed to be careful of crashes and plan your fighting around these so you can run off and meditate to heal while you wait for the muon crash to go.

vi) only use a vk if there wearing armour because then you need the ap but othere wise your just reducing your ham quicker.

vii) target there weakness, lots of buffed compos on farstar always seem to neglect there mind so they may only have 500 max which is easier to target using head hit.

4) get some good clothing, use bio engineered clothing with melee/stun defence and intimidation/warcry bonus' this will be invaribly cheaper than armour and won't encumber you.

5) hide your abilities, carry a ranged weapon have another title up novice pistoleer etc or something this helps if you've mastered several profs which it would be impossible for you to have all at the same time keeps the opposition thinking, also gives you the option of lanmding a bleed shot if you have the skills b4 attacking but remember to switch to your vk you'll be kicking your self if you try to use unarmed hit 2 with a dx2 in your hand.

6) macro it! if you haven't done it yet make a macro for death blow i use /unarmedhit2 /deathblow. I do get a crap load of annoying messages come up saying you cannot deathblow this target as it is not incapacitated but as soon as they are incaped they will be dead so you can move on quickly avoiding getting attacked while using the radial menu. WARNING people may complain 'Some one stole my deathblow' is common but remember that your only protecting your self as you take a lot of risk getting in close all the time and as soon as ppl see you using your abilities you immediatly become a target.

many people will complain about the teras kasi saying your overpowered but we can easily be kited by any ranged profession and all the other melee professions do havebleeds and a greater range etc.

Ihope this helps and i'm sure theres many mistakes and things i've forgotten but remember that if you want to suceed in pvp your greatest weapon is your mind you have to thing like a teras kasi to succed, you will be cursed and have your corpse spat on, and have the continious cries of nerf ringing in your ears, but the best response is 'well i mastered my profession completly, what about you? and by this i don't mean finishing the profI mean learning from your mistakes, playing to your strengths and exploiting the weakness of your opponets, if they let you get close thats there mistake so explot it. The best advice i can give you is to leave anything you value in your house or bank and go learn from mistakes yours and your opponets you'll soon come up with somestratergies of your own. enjoy the game as well if tk doesn't work for you find something that does it might just be your not suted to this profession.
