One thing to try (this assuming that to disconnect your just hitting the disconnect button in game) is when you powerboost simply unplug your cable modem/router from your computer.

He mentioned that a crash of the server happened inbetween that time period, a sudden loss of connection (such as disconnecting your internet access directly) would probably better simulate that then going through game and disconnecting (which as far as i can tell is the same as sitting down and typing /logout)
