Actually I tested the respec last night and what they do is automatically fill in the new pre-reqs. Unfortunately what it does is leave you with skill points something like I ended up with; -6/250.

That confused the hell out of me for a while until I noticed I had been given 4 boxes of 2h without having actually earned it.

I couldn't quite figure out though if I really needed to give up skills to get back to 250 or less...everything SEEMED to work.

so does lucas arts have anything to do with the CU? or are they just helping the development of the row expansion...they are 2 totally different projects.

That idea got scrapped while SWG was still in early beta/late alpha.

Addon: If you read the description it talks about it being announced in this years E3 conference... which hasnt happened yet

Question on the re-spec.

I'm 4000 TK, MSwords, 0440 Fencer and some other stuff. I'll be dumping Swords and going TKM after the nerf.

Will I be able to re-spec by dumping swords and filling in the TK boxes?

u will be able to change all your skills - u can even decide to drop all melee and go master rifleman. the only limitation that occur atm is that u can only exchange Elite with Elite skills and Novice with Novice Skills - so u cannot transfer a skill line form Scout to TKA. and its only the Combat Professions that are touched by the Respec (this includes Medic, Doc and CH) - so u cannot drop your combat skills to become master chef or invest free skillpoints in Artisan.

thats the current status - might change thou til it goes live.

Ok Im confused..

Right now im Master TK and Master Fencer. However I want to trade Master Fencer for Master Pike. SO your saying when CU goes live I can just " switch " to master pike without having to grind it ??

As long as you have enough skillpoints you can.

If your template uses up 232 skillpoints, and you can do the TKM/Pikeman template using those same skillpoints, you can do it.

But if you're a novice scout with a template using 40 skillpoints you can't respec and become a master BH.

I think that's how they'll do it... They might also make it so that you swap box-for-box, but it's essentially the same idea. The more work you put into getting your current template, the more you can put into a template during respec.

The respec will serve two purposes. People who have a profession with new prerequisites can move their skill boxes around to meet those prerequisites if they don't already (otherwise you can't keep that profession). Also, if the CU changes your profession in a way that you don't like you can instantly switch to something else (so I recommend getting on testcenter and checking out professions to see if you might want something else).

Ok thanks. But everytime I try the TC, my computer locks up. I have tried everything and I don't understand. Tech support is no help. So if you don't mind, can I pick your brain a little more ??

MY current template

Master Teras Kasi
Master Fencer
Medic 2/0/4/0
Scout 4/0/4/0

So how will this translate in a " respec " if I want the best combat template ?? I can drop scout, no problem. What tweeks should I make NOW, so when the CU goes live I don't have to do any grinding. Because from what I hear, grinding aint gonna be pretty in this new system.

Wow good stuff. Thanks. So overall would you say the CU has made ranged profs way better then TK and melee ?

Not "way better", but better, which is fair I suppose. Melee professions still have better defenses at least, in general. But it's no longer set so that defenses are everything, offense means a lot now (probably more than defense).

I tried Fencer/TKM, it's actually not bad. Fencer gives you some really cool cripple and bleed attacks that in the CU can be used while doing unarmed fighting. You should take up Master Brawler as well, good stuff in that box, and then you'll have barely enough for either novice medic or scout, I recommend scout because in the CU healing really sucks unless you put a lot of points into it, and even then it's not that great.
