From someone who tried PVPing with all the melees... Leave the swordsman and pikeman trees alone. Look, I love swordsman, but in PVP we're useless. I love Pikeman even more, but in PVP we're slightly more useful than swordsman and in PVE, less so. The key with those two are they before master, they're horrible. So dabbling in them gets you nowhere, while someone can dabble, say TKA 4004 and add to their swordsman template.

How come swordsman are useless in PvP?Mind damage seems to be the most common way to take someone down, so why doesn't powerhammer + head hit work well? Or am I thinking too offensively?

Well, as of right now, melee mitigation kills swordsman. You're NOT hitting at the speed cap, and kinetic is at least 80% protected. If you move to blast damage, you have a VERY low min dmg rating on hammers, they're innacurate, and slow. Plus, with Canapes, brandy, ahrissa, and in a pinch muon, mind damage isn't the end all be all damage type. I consider myself a good swordsman, but in PVP, I'm worthless. Meanwhile, with fencer about 6 months ago, I could go 2 on 1 in PVP and make it out alive, without acklay batons, without master brawler, hell, without stun batons at all. I used the same old 300 dmg sliced gaffi stick I used in PVE.

Like Lore_Darkdust, I used to have his template:

TKM

Master Fencer

Master Brawler

Swordsman 3/0/4/0

Pikeman 0/0/2/0

Then after toying around with master swordsman, I've found this template which is better than my previous one:

TKM
MasterFencer

Master Brawler

Swordsman 3/0/2/0
