>>Curious as to why Lucas published a game with the title Masters of the Teras Kasi based on fan sites. <<

Did I say the Teras Kasi came from a fansite? No, I said that so far everone postingthis info about them has got it from a website (teraskasi.net).In other wordsthe whole "TKA are force sensitive and feared by Jedi" background and history - which I can personally confirm isnot mentioned anywhere in the MotTK game.

An official source for that info has been asked for dozens of times and this time anyone has given one, thanks to Shidoshi.

Teras Kasi get cannons? We're supposed to be unarmed fighters.

Excellent! Gracias for the info, it's appreciated. I dug through my SWRPG sourcebooks (West End - 2nd edition) already but found no mention of Teras Kasi, any idea what book contains the info? (if you can't already tell I'm trying to gather all official I can, mostly for a TKA site I'm planningto do, but have not been having much luck getting info onsources)

And yep, the game was absolutely terrible... Amazingly enough I still have it gathering dust somewhere with my PS.

"Only official canon are the movies"

Unfortunately the movies (primarily Episode 1 and 2) and killing off all the good background stories. Someone stated this before with the whole Darth Vader - lil' anakin thing. But even more bothersome is how they completely destroyed the Boba Fett storyline. Anyone remember Jaster Mereel the Journeyman Protector who was imprisoned for killing a senior officer? No . . . because now he is one of a million clones from his daddy . . . so much for unique. Leave it to Lucas to take great story ideas and turn them into kid-friendly movies with comical relief from an annoying gungan. *shakes head in dispair*

Just wait, I am sure in Episode 3 they will make Tera Kasi originate from a gungan game played by children . . . or a form of cantina dancing that accidently broke someone's nose.

SAD . . . *waiting for the next disappointment*

I can't remember where it was said, possibly by Raph himself, possibly not.But the ExtendedUniverse has no bearing in this game. So we can't even use this to our advantage.

To the guy who said the only official canon is through the movies,

you're joking right? The movies are a scratch in the surface of the Star Wars Universe.

Well the EU isnt exactly cannon. For example, in the EU, Boba Fett survived in ROTJ, but Lucas has stated that he did. in fact, die.

Yeah there are a few EU comics, etc that went a bit too far... actually the comics in general seem to exploit specific popular characters instead of opting for any serious continuity.

When I think of EU I think books and the pen/paper rpgs.

I don’t remember the exact quote, but the statement made concerning the Extended Universe was ‘Official, but not cannon’. In other words, it’s licensed by Lucas Arts, but is not Canon as far as the ‘One True’ Star Wars storyline goes. I.E. Boba Fett (the origin), the fact that there was a series of books written where Luke finds more information out about his mother (Dark Fleet Crises, I think), etc.

EU Includes, but is not limited to:
All books not directly based on the Five released movies (this includes the ‘filler’ books set concerning Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon before ep. 1, and the books about Anakin and Obi-Wan between ep 1 & 2)
All comic material.
All Video Games.
All Role Playing Games.

And a hell of a lot of other things I’m missing here…heh.

Nothing published without the Lucas Arts seal of approval (or whatever you want to call it), is considered EU.

I don’t remember anything about the TKA in the West End Books (I’m still trying to find people in Vegas to play that one), but I do seem to remember something about it in one of the encyclopedias. What surprises me, is that there’s nothing in the EU section of the Databanks on StarWars.com. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of anything else that lists ‘detailed’ information. I know it is briefly discussed in the WotC d20 book (Darth Maul is listed as being a TKA), but not in any real depth (more of honorable mention than anything).

This all being said, the Teras Kasi, from what I have read, are supposed to be feared as some of the best fighters in the galaxy. SOME OF…not THE MOST. Of course, that being said, it’s been made readily apparent that the Jedi aren’t the end all, be all of everything as well.

And for the previous post concerning the reasoning behind TKA being in the game by Lucas when they aren’t canon – This game itself isn’t canon, it’s EU. The most prominent example of it not being canon but in this game (aside from TKA), is Dathomir, and the Witches…these appeared in Courtship of Princess Leia.

IMHO one of the better books written set after RotJ. Not as good as the Thrawn Trilogy (to me, anyways) series, but still…

"I'd say that it's an amalgam of all of them.

George Lucas himself doesn't have anything to say about Teras Kasi in the movies. The sources we used were all EU, including the Masters of Teras Kasi game.

Those sources don't have much detail in them. We got a general tone, plus the names of some moves and stances (Forraderi for example).

We did make the decision that a Teras Kasi Master was simply a masterful martial artist and meditator, comparable in overall skill to the mast amazing rifle sniper, or the most wonderful swordsman.

I guess I am really not sure how to answer your question.

Sorry if this is covered/posted somewhere else but I haven't fully read everything in our forum area just yet.
