Which part of the term 'unarmed' combat don't you understand... oh wait, you must be related to the dev who thought up the concept for VKs. Never mind then....

Num Chucks (groan...) = Nuncha-ku - weapon of Okinawan origin conceived during the occupation, suppression and ultimate assimilation of Okinawa (then known as the Ryuky Islands) by the Japanese forces several hundred years ago. Originated from the simple tool the then natives of Okinawa used to thrash rice stalks.

Throwing Stars - Shuriken - weapon of ninja origin. The word means "dagger hidden in the palm". Shuriken have no armour piercing capabilities and are only lethal if coated with poison.

In RL, a Nuncha-ku would consist of 2 stout pieces of wood approximately 10" in length connected at it's ends by a stout cord or chain.

In SWG, a Nuncha-ku would require:

Armoursmith Certification - Advanced Melee Weapon Crafting
12 units Ferrous Metal
8 units Steel
8 units Non-Ferrous Metal
10 units Copper
8 units Solid Petrochemical Fuel
1 blade vibro unit

to those who think that because it's called 'unarmed', TKAs should not get any weapons. one word:

swordsman.

and so you know, it's Teras kasi, not 'mr. unarmed master'.

Ya, but I thought Okinawans spoke Japanese. I could be wrong, of course.

lol...i spelled it hillbilly style....ya if ya get "nunchucks" the nerf cries will be huge. Right now all the melee classes are envious of TKAs for the abilities you guys have..(knockdown/dizzy combo). Right now as a master fencer if i want a knockdown i have to have master brawler. I am not calling for you guys getting nerfed...I want to others beefed up.

Adding this now would make the masses scream. Next to CMs, TKAs are on everyones nerf list

About Tera Kasi

Does 'Teras Kasi' Mean Anything?
Yes - like many names in Star Wars which were borrowed from non-english languages, "Teräs Käsi" is taken from the Finnish language: "Teräskäsi" or "teräs käsi" literally means "steel hands."

What is Teras Kasi in Star Wars Galaxies Terms?
A very deadly form of martial arts focussing on unarmed combat and near magical meditation skills. Teras Kasi is an advanced skill which first requires training through the Unarmed Specialist branch of the Brawler tree. Teras Kasi is a very short range method of combat.

What is Teras Kasi in Terms of Star Wars?
The Teräs Käsi are thought to be sensitive to changes in the Force, and Teras Kasi Masters are feared by the Jedi. But Teras Kasi are not generally Force users as Jedi are: Teras Kasi draw internal, personal power, while Jedi draw from everything around them.

There is a secretive group called the Followers of Palawa who were formed from the remnant civilians of a long-ago battle which devestated their home world of Palawa, a war which involved the awsome powers of the Jedi Council. The few survivors of Palawa migrated to a nearby world called Bunduki, a world in the Pacanth Reach of the Outer Rim conquered by the Epicanthix, where they learned Teras Kasi and vowed to keep the Jedi use of power in check.

...so, whilst I am still of two minds as to whether TKA's should get more weapons, the original reference to the term TeraKasi meaning "steel hands" does imply an unarmed art of fighting.

...also the original premise for the Tera Kasi, the book Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry (copyright 1996, Bantam Spectra Books), later adopted by Sony into the game Masters of Tera Kasi...does also imply that the Jedi are indeed concerned by the Tera Kasi's skills and abilities to neutralize them. This little tidbit for the whining padawans...

ack! another person who believes in the rice thrasher theory

that's a misconception, actually. it's more likely that it's either a) a modification of a chinese weapon brought to okinawa, or b) a modified horses bridle.

using a tool even remotely like a nunchaku for rice would be VERY uncomfortable....
