I for one say tkm should not use armor and the only armor in my opinion that is acceptable for a martial artist is ubese.

And be sure to shop around for that good ubese... on Lowca as well, and I saw some 75 ubese jackets for 100k on a vendor. Started the mission grind to try to save up - and ran across a guy selling full suits in backpacks for 150k. Have since learned that's around the norm. Been buying piecemeal to last longer, but will definitely buy a backup set before it's all gone!

"Yep. It's that most people don't understand the ins and outs of armor enough to make a decision based on the situation at-hand."
No, it's because Composite with a stun layer has no weaknesses at all, and higher resists than any other kind of armor in the game. With buffs the encumbrance means nothing.

I am a TKM/ Master Armorsmith so for once I actually have something to add to a thread!
Ubese is definitely the low cost alternative to comp for PVE. It is possible to do Padded, with a high kinetic resist, but the resources for Padded are nothing short of pain in the arse to acquire so most smiths do not stock it. (It does look cool though)
For those of you lucky enough to be on Valcyn I offer 72% Ubese suits at 75K. Come to Teaeffoh on Correllia and I will set you up with one. (Vendor is in the PA Hall)
As far as the debate between the two I would consider a few factors. Armor is decaying much faster than 3 months ago. Most of the crafters/ combat people in my guild believe a "stealth Nerf" was put through that has enhanced decay. That is why I am selling m Ubese so cheap. I can't keep up with the demand. There is a master Fencer in my guild that goes through a suit a week.
I would still get that beefed up suit of composite for PVP and high level PVE content like the Geno Bunker or the Corvette. Ubese won't cut it there. But for PVE get the Ubese and save some of your hard earned money.
As far as looks, Ubese can look stylish, you just need a smith that is willing to experiment with the color pallete. The dark reds, greens, and even the yellow all look pretty cool. You just need to find something you like.

I almost never wear my armor. I get owned some times but I also win a lot. I am not out to beat everyone, I just want to be a contender.
I do wear my uber comp armor when doing the Corvette or Geno.
