What exactly do you do as a TKA/SM? I mean tactics-wise. Do you use the sword and just have TKA for the defense? Do you use any of the TKA's moves(btw can you use any melee move with any other melee weapon?)?

I was a TKM/MD before the CU, I would really be interested how you do post-CU with TKM/MD

Definately do not give out the same amount of damage before CU, but i can still do alright.. it is getting used to a different fighting style and always having to watch the toolbar rather than watch the fighting (whis is an issue with me). As i posted, i am also a Master Brawler and am going Nov. Swords to get back some of the specials we lost.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - JULIO TORRES

Again, what makes Swordsman the best? Do they just wear no armor? Do they use their weapons. What do they generally do?

I've been thinking about trying TKM/MCM. Anyone know if the combined tanking from TK and DoT's from CM would work very well while solo? I'm trying to find a good balance between solo and group effectiveness - this idea seems good on paper, but haven't tried it yet.

I came back last weekend for the CU after being off since January and respec'd myself as a TKM/MCM (after being a defense stacking TKM/Doc before). I haven't taken on anything very hard yet, but I've had fun with the TKM tanking and the MCM healing/DoTs. I haven't been using enhancers for the DoTs yet (from what I've read, not all of them are working yet), but have had great fun both solo and in groups. I wasn't much of a PvPer before and haven't tried that yet either.

I soloed the Nyax compound yesterday while trying out tactics that combine the two profs. The bulk of the MOBs there are only lvl 30 (Nyax himself didn't spawn, I've yet to see him in 10 trips there) so it wasn't too hard, but I would lay both fire and poison on everone attacking me before switching to Blaster Fists.

In groups, healing with spray and toss has been nice and I handle the agro from the spray nicely because of the TK skills. I'm working on the first branch of the Commando tree for the extra Melee/Ranged Defense and General Melee Accuracy.

I'm sure somebody will come up with a reason why this template blows for PvP, but I'm enjoying it so far for PvE.

OK, I was TKM/Master Brawler and Master Swords with Pike 0040 but it is all for naught as a ranged attacker will keep the distance and crush you, even if he is several lvls lower. Its the intent and design of the game. You in the melee professions are DOOMED !!

Unless you master pikeman and get a Poison Spike, give up. Hopefully you can still respec.

currently in love with TKM/Master Brawler/Master Doctor, never worry about the lower damage output, i can keep myself alive long enough to kill something. i also love it for PVP aswell, of course i may loose to someone with a tripple master melee, but im finding that on average i do really well....unless i forget powerboost and cob

just try this

TKM- gives u COB, meditation, powerboost, inate armour, good def stats and some nice stat attacks
Mswords- gives u area taunt for tanking, good def stats, armour break, good attacks that u can use
when doing tkm moves, area knockdown
Pikes xx4x- gives u def stats and intimidate and warcry
fencer 4xx3x- should give u plus 55 melee def and 40 ranged def if i remember properly
Mbrawler- u may as well take this since u need all the rows and u get added melee def

this is an uber template as it incorporates all melee profs so ur def is really high with a very
large array of attacks to choose from and use with almost any weapon or without
the def stats mix with the inate armour to make u really able to stand ur weight among others
such a mix also gives u a mix of cool things like the pike intimidate and warcry, the tkm
COB powerboost meditate and inate armour, and the swordies taunts and area attacks

None of your templates have Scout or Medic. I guess I could do without Exploration IV.. How important is Novice Medic?

I wouldn't bother with medic unless your going master doc, it's healing ability's are too small.

But a TKA/Doc master is excellent for a solo PvE player, with COB and the doc heal dot I don't take damage in any 1 on 1 situation with any lvl 80 mob, and when they gangup on me I just heal every 10 or so hits, nice thing is doc use mostly mind and TKA is mostly action for specials.

Also mixed in a little Pikeman for the xtra def and to get a couple of the pike combat moves spin, leghit, and intimidate.
