It's one or the other, most of the time you'll have a better dps with your fists (no actual way to pull it up, it just seems like it and pretty much everyone says it too). However I recommend always getting the tk weapons anyways and trying them out as I've got one character who's CL 14 with just unarmed 4, not quite to TK Novice yet and he does about 70-80 more damage with a Massassi knuckler than with his fists so it all depends on what you can find. As you start getting closer to TK Master thought I don't think you'll find anything better than your fists until you hit TKM and can use a Katarn.

As a quick addition to that actually, even then I think it'll probably depend on what kind of slice you've got on your Katarn or what kind of unarmed damage ca's you've got as well, that could very well swing it definitively one way or the other.

Well on the comat upgrade profession breakdown a fencer is also a 4 on offense and tka is a 3 but what damage type is the Fencer weapon you are using too as that can play a part in it as well.

That differance between a 3 and a 4 in damage dealing would be reasonable IF I was a master fencer. I am not. I am only 0002. I also tried with pikeman 0020 and dealt WAY MORE damage over timewith a lance than knucklers of katarn. My fencer weapons deal kinetic...

i have obtained a necrosis nightblade and it seems to work pretty well. with a vinci melee speed pu it has a mod dps of 700. Still not as good as my acid sword but my melee defense with tkm is unbelievable so i use the nightblade whenever i can. btw i am master swordsman, master fencer, master tk so my stats are probably higher than most. but if you are thinking of going trifecta on your melee profs the acid sword is the weapon to have.
