Thread: A thought on anti Kiting new moves
LoBai
"That's just silly. You're twisting any sense of credibility you might have had if you think Jedi will be kited..."
The statement was about Tk's being Kited not Jedi's since i have not seen one.

"You were not ment to chase anyone. Stop running.
That's right...if you chase a marksman...you make yourself a mark...period."
The problem is not chasing them or catching them if they run away they tend to take being attacked kind of personal. So they start chasing you if you try to run away. At this moment it is more of a Cat and Mouse Game where combined with Server Lag, not knowing if you are in range to hit, they just spam their mind or other special moves and a melee still dies. Or if you are lucky enough to have a building near by the TKthen u can get away. But as a reply said earlier "in there opinion the TK is not supost to run away"
Ok now back to the original meaning of the Post. I believe that if a TK or any meleecan catch a ranged weapon user we should have a way to keep them in Range. I do believe the extra range and the follow command should be able to fix this. But if it does notI believe that this movewill be able to fix it. But any fix should not stop them from fighting back. That is the reasoning behind the "snare" move, it willslow them down so we can keep up but DOES allow them to fight back. This is the balance where KD they could not fight back at all and a 0-1-0-0 TK could on a very good day take out a MBH or MC.
Now about PvP I have been suprised when I attacked a someone and they survived and ran away to start kiting as I tried to run the other direction. That was not the part that got to me it was when he started spaming "dont run away you will only die tired" unfortunatly he was right. But on the good side he was so beat up a PA mate one shoted him asI recloned.
I am not mad about this, I am just opening up a Forum about ways they can fix this problem. I do hope the Increased Range will do this but as in any tweek in a on going evolution of a game it may or may not fix it.
I haven't seen anyone post this kind of idea, so let me step up to the plate.
How about a move that's similar to "Take Cover" in that it imobilizes us. But in doing so, it gives a dramatic increase to ranged defence and block/dodge/etc kinds of defensive maneuvers. I know that TK don't normally block/dodge/etc, but using this ability would make us able to stand ground against ranged attacks. Think of it as a focus in defending against all attacks. Now being immobile because of this focus does stop kiting in a way, but does limit the melee user in that he cannot move while the defence is in effect. But make it on the order that as long as the meleeist doesn't move, he can effectively defend himself against ranged attacks. In a way forcing the ranged user to engage melee. If this ability worked in melee as well, sacrificing attack speed (tripling the wait between hits) but provided the same kind of protection against attacks, you might see meleeists being tanks again for some of the harder creatures in PvE. Then again, if that kind of change is made, it will affect game balance quite dramatically for grouping.
It's not a solve all idea. It's really pretty flawed. But if this area is a constructive discussion, this idea has validity and shouldn't be flamed. I'm not saying this is a finished idea either. Just something that popped into mind.
Thank you for your replies LoBai
I have changed my tactics over time and they do seem to be on par to whatyouare suggesting. Pick your Fights and have a fall back position(in a building).
I am just trying to engage thoughts and get the thought juices flowing. Possibly catching a Dev's attention or for a noob to get an experienced player explain how to not get kited.
Basically as a Melee we need to have a Larger field of veiw (where are the buildings) and while going in we need to get the job done fast.

Start chasing you? Good. That's just what you want. Game of cat and mouse? Yea, you're the cat and your entering a building and waiting for them is the guarding the mousetrap with a big piece of cheese(think you're running away). If they spam mind hits...if they get up PERIOD after you KD them and had their way with them (sometimes they "slide" and there's problems, but generally speaking) than you shouldn't have started the fight, cause you're outmatched. Building near? If you get into a ranged fight and there isn't cover around...that was silly. If I did that, I would hope they shoot me in the head...maybe it'll knock something loose and I'll realize how dumb I was.
Dandolan:
But as a reply said earlier "in there opinion the TK is not supost to run away"
Response:
Who's they that they don't want you to run away? ...and you're not running away, you're baiting them...you're leading them into YOUR conditions.

Some people out there, some ranged, some melee are very very tough...they pop spice and food and they get doc buffed and wear crazy tough armor...it's inevitable...but 90% of people dont. You will die from time to time. No one's disputing that. If you were in a situation where you attacked one of these tougher folks and you weren't equally armored/buffed and you didn't have cover of any kind and you were being kited...well...goodbye. I've done it before...and I was only mad at myself afterwards cause I was stupid.
Mandolan, and many others who are having the same difficulties, I'm not guessing here. I'm not guessing or suggesting "possible" solutions. I'm telling you what I've done time and time again...tactics that others have used as well and ones that WORK...undoubtedly! You cannot dispute results...you cannot shout "lucky" when you do it over and over with different people on different server in different situations...it's proven.
Don't post anymore threads telling the people that know what results it gets telling us why the round peg won't fit into the round hole after we just explainedthe processin depth. Do what has worked for many and find another TK that's having much success (even if it's an opposing faction member) and ask for advice...train with them...have them go with you on hunts and PvP...learn from them...together we can grow strong.
You're a tree Dandolan, I'm yelling at the forest, but I'm a small person and it looks like I'm yelling at a tree until you step back and look at the big picture.
Good luck. Seriously.
