Iused to use comboand melee strike as my 2 alternating specials.. but like you,I switched to melee hit / melee strike, and my dps is far better..

Combo does decent damage, but it usesmuch more action and the longer cooldown make it worse dps than a low level brawler attack

Reason why is beacuse speed mods are broken in-game for specials except the default attacksuch as melee hit, ranged hit, saber hit. Instead of the secondary timer using your mod spd, it is using the base spd of the weapon. The base specials above seem to be functioning properly by using mod spd. There is a thread about this in jedi forums. So to get your speed you either need to use speed buffs, a speed PU, or use the default attack. By cycling the default attack with your more damaging special you are doing more dps. Read here:
