No.

It used to be that when you unlocked Jedi, you would get a new character slot and that new character could only learn Jedi skills. So it used to be that Jedi could not ever have any other kind of skills.

Now your main character becomes a Jedi when you unlock, and you can mix and match whatever skills you like. Your second character slot is a regular character, though you can get that character to Jedi also if you like (through the regular means).
