The one thing that has me worried is that if we somehow do end up with a medic prereq, we would have to be slightly more powerfull than the rest of the melee.
Also in the new system I think having medic can hurt you as a combat prof because heal,th points are awarded for combat skills.

After being a TKM/MD for well over a year I must ask where they got their drugs to make this change?
I'm in the same boat, if you do the math.. with the new prereq's you will have way more SP's to play with now. I had 12 spare points before for FS skills, now I have closer to the 30's in spare SP's.
Basically every prof now has 2 pre-req braches. So no more Master Medic for Doc.
Yes I do want to see TK to a degree more like bounty hunter. I don't want to be a "melee" hunter or anything like that; I just feel that TKA being the only profession that actaully has some flavor and background to it should have a bit more to it than a plain old weapon profession. I believe that we are primarilly defensive and serve a protector role, as the premere melee profession. But for this to happen, we shouyld have to "pay" a bit more for it, because we should be a cut above the rest. I dont want to be a player hunter, a Jedi, or a Jedi hunter... I just want to be more unique. The opportunity for content is here, the DEVs should seize.
I know adding in the medical pre-req would mean 15 extra points. Perhaps I'm more comfortable with this due to the fact that I am a TKM-medic.
(I never needed to be a stacker to "win," I never needed to have a big uber weapon to "win." I beat people by surviving longer than they could, no matter what they hit me with or threw on me.)
It makes more sense to me than the current brawler system WHERE TKM SWORDS FENCER CAN BE A TRIPPLE MASTERY MAKING MY FROFESSION INTO A FOTM!!!!!
Beyond that I believe in knowledge and healing in general. Knowledge of physiology allows us to understand how to exceed our own percieved physical limitations. Knowledge of basic healing is what I believe Teräs Käsi should require as I see us as a peaceful school of thought. Knowledge of healing helps justify our meditate healing abilities as well.
While it is true some RL fighting styles have "evolved" from styles that use a 2-hand type weapon, that arguement can also be used for one hand and polearm type weapons as well. I see no logical reason, based on canon, RL Martial Arts or otherwise just common sense for the pre-req to be 2-handed, one handed, or polearms.
I would really like to get some sort of DEV comment on the reasoning behind the pre-req, and why they made the possibility of going TK/FENCER/SWORD.
SCREW 2-handed!

What SHOULD the brawler pre-reqs look like?
Suggestion 1: Basic Circular Support Scheme (I dont like it but I'll leave it as a point for thought)
Unarmed + Medic General Healing = TKA -> also [Unarmed + Ranged Support = Commando] [Unarmed + Pistols = Smuggler]
1-Hand + Polearm = Fencer
2-Hand + Polearm = Pikeman
1-Hand + 2-Hand = Sordsman
Suggestion 2: Consistent with the Marksman Tree (better, but still stale... like the marksman tree)
Unarmed + Medic General Healing = TKA
Unarmed + 1-Hand = Fencer
Unarmed + 2-Hand = Swordsman
Unarmed + Polearm = Pikeman
Suggestion 3: My personal Preference for continuity and for the prevention of stacking 3 elite masteries.
Unarmed + Medic General Healing = TKA
1-Hand + 2-Hand = Swordsman [anyone who knows swords (not fencing) knows you use one hand sometimes and 2-hands sometimes]
Unarmed + 1-Hand = Fencer [When using only one hand you need to learn what to do with the one not holding a weapon, and how to trap/ attack with it]
2-Hand + Polearms = Pikeman [you use two hands to wield a pike (be it a staff or long vibro axe) sometimes... seems logical to me.]
The unfortunate thing is that once again SOE gives out limited information so that I can't say for sure that it should be this way, but based upon the limited info I have, this is what I think.

You keep saying Unarmed and MEDIC Healing.. Tka's don't heal, but besides, that would increase the skill point cost of TKM to be the same as Master Bounty Hunter, 15 more skill points than any of the other brawler elites. No, I'll take 2h sword, fencer or pike, but certainly not something from a different novice profession
They have also said SKILLPOINT REQUIREMENTS WILL CHANGE
Therefore, a logical conclusion is:
SKILLPOINT REQUIREMENTS WILL CHANGE, MAKING MASTER TKA/FENCER/SWORDSMAN IMPOSSIBLE
Nothing is set in stone
