I am thinking that I am ready to do some holocron hunting and I am aware of how to spawn darktroopers...but I have never fought them. Are they solo'able as a TKM?
Got one on my first try (literally...first trooper). Master Smuggler...figures since I just droped spices 1-4.
Lol ... am i the only one that noticed that 99% of the ppl that have or are selling holocrons are master tk
use the KD baby you can get as many as you want lol ( 11 so far here ) happy hunting all
um... again, I'm NOT a TKA master yet... I am merely TKA 0.2.1.1 (I've gotten better since my post above). and I could at that point kill ONE. my point was that a non-master stood a chance. I certainly HOPE masters can take more than one, otherwise it'd be ludicrous to go any further in the profession. well, maybe not ludicrous, but certainly less-than-wise.
I AM more than a little disappointed that killing troopers (not dark) around espa, and at the tat oasis, gives ZERO xp. they still give FP (which I suppose I'll eventually spend on something useful, like furniture), but zero xp for my efforts.
im 4,1,2,2 (just got adv power yesterday yay!!!)
DT rfun just spam uh2 or dizzy, kd, THEN spam uh2
I've been soloing the darktrooper base since it was announced that they drop crons. I once took down eight darktroopers at a time, but I was very lucky. I can take three at a time pretty easy. Sometimes if there is a fourth one, I don't survive it. It is often hard to keep the number of troopers that come after you under four. lunge 2 helps alot in that regard, so master brawler is nice.
I hit each trooper with a dizzy, kd2, dizzy combo.I overdo the dizzy attacks because if you have three on you and one of them gets up after the kd, it's like fighting four of them. You will sometimes die in this instance. Don't waste your HAM using UH3 or the like after you knock them down. Save yourself some downtime by just throwing the knucklers on and using regular attacks on them while they're on the ground.
The exception to this is when you are competing with CH, BH, or commando types and you need to make sure you do enough damage to get the loot. You don't need to worry about protecting your HAM as much when they are there because some of the troopers will be attacking them (if you are smart, anyway). Don't get greedy with the spawns if you are competing with the big gun hunters. Wait for them to attack a trooper, then you go for another one. If you try to get two, you probably wont be able to loot any. Concentrate your damage on just one of them. Don't get greedy.
I have a master TK, master brawler, master dancer twi'lek. All my HAM bars are at 850 and I never use buffs in the darktrooper base because the downer always seems to hit at the wrong time. If you got a healer backing you up, you can obviously be less concerned with the downer. I also use 16% mabari armor to take the edge off the damage without screwing up my stats.
The darktrooper base is about 3.5k M south of Lake Retreat. The closest cloning center is in Theed. When you die at the base, you are looking at a shuttle ride and a long run to get back. Don't expect any help from other hunters at the base. They will see you as competition and let the troopers DB you when you go down. This is why survival is more important here than at most hunting locations.
The biggest thing to remember while you're hunting here is to have fun doing it. If you are just there for the crons, you will get disappointed, unless you are very lucky. I've killed maybe 500 dark troopers at the base over the last two weeks, and along with an additional 500 or so cron dropping NPCs on dath and dant, I have yet to find my first cron. This had me pretty disappointed after the first couple hundred kills. But then I just took a break from it for a day or so and decided I was going to hunt these NPCs for the fun and challenge of it and if I get a cron, that will be a nice bonus. If I don't, at least I am having fun.
