In PvE, I use Unarmed Combo 1. It is,IME and according to tka data sites, a better directed hit to the health pool than unarmed body hit. Unarmed Hit 3 hits a random pool, and I don't like killing an opponent 3 times instead of once. I also don't like how I am stuck on the spot while the UA3 animation winds down, and enemies can take shots at me at leisure. Good against lairs though.

In PvP, Unarmed Combo 2 removes synthsteak really fast, which is a great advantage compared to Unarmed Hit 3. The problem with UA3 rooting the TKA is even worse in PvP, unless you keep moving, so I don't like to use it there. Unarmed Combo 2 also spreads, IME, its damage evenly around health and mind, and only does about 10 to 20% of its damage to action, so I think it is better for pvp as well.

This is, however, unbuffed fighting. I don't fight buffed, so experiences with buffs may vary.

Good advice on the Combo1/UH3 move.
You mention sticking a dizzy/kd on someone like it were something that's easy to do. As the TKM doesn't have a specific dizzying move like the fencer does, for example, how do you ensure dizzying your opponent with the moves that you do have?

Yes, we do.

/unarmed Dizzy1 (or two when you get to 0/0/2?/0) I didn't look it up, just trying to go from memory

In fact I usually apply it either before or after I try to knockdown my opponent as Unarmed Knockdown isn't guaranteed to stick the dizzy, especially with the templates out there now.

There is also unarmed lunge1 which you get at novice brawler. Followed by unarmed lunge2 that comes with master brawler. Lunge2 is great because it works up to 20m and can come in extremely handy when fighting ranged professions who try to kite you.

Unarmed Lunge 1 has a range of 20 meters, I tested that with a lair several times. Unlike Unarmed Lunge 2 it is not a knockdown, but a posture change mode.

Yeah i've just logged in to check that and i feel like a right idiot now. All that time and i hadn't noticed the specific dizzy. Doh.

I was wondering if a states macro mightn't be nice for duels;

/unarmedstun1;
/unarmedblind1;
/unarmeddizzy1;
/unarmedknockdown1;

It seems that dizzy1 and kd1 is far more likely to do the job than kd2.

What do you reckon? i'd probably do this without the VKs on.

And ramona, excuse the nooby question, but what use is a posture change move?

Posture change moves drop the target one step down - usually from standing to kneeling. When they are dizzy and try to stand up again they have a chance to fall down.

Knockdown moves drop the target flat on his or her back.

Vs Def stackers

Stun1

Dizzy1

lunge2

dizzy1

or try stun1

dizzy1

knockdown2

Dont spam knockdown

there is a bug that if u kd an opponent n kd again they stand up (had this prob with lag)

Vs jedi n ranged

always start with UH3 blind them first (and hit steak foods)

then go for the KD2

and dizzy1 to make sure dizzy sticks

KD2 does Knockdown and should do dizzy state to, but not always

try a kd macro vs different opponents

stun1;

dizzy1;

lunge1; / lunge2 (master brawler);

dizzy1.

(really emphasize dizzy)

and

stun1;

knockdown2;

dizzy1;

alot of peeps will tell u stun doesnt do anything....but it does

1. it slows the opponent

2. wreaks havoc with their defenses if it sticks. (good against def stackers and fencers)

O yes with UH3 u are rooted to the ground when using it....but on ur enemy do /follow. You will perfom the UH3 on the move but wont see the animation (dirty i know)

no probs my man

A good combo for tkm is medic n pikeman.

Dot pikes are evul at ripping ham bars down, as vks have a hard time cutting through comp

Medic for obvious reasons. jedis seem to favour Polearm at present so being able to take a jedi needs healing health n action.

Keep a muon handy for the mind.

most people now take knock down food, there is def vs dizzy food as well, but its not to popular on chimera server at present, not sure about other servers.so id concentrate on dizzy posture change dizzy, if you can not knock ur target down.
