Thread: Wouldn't it be nice if we could to Kata?

The kata idea sounds like a great thing that can be implemented into the game. Making it a skill or implementing into an existing one may eliminate it's possibility of being implemented however. A simple /kate or /kata# (1-?) would suffice. Plus we don't know enough about how the Teras Kasi operates it's martial arts style. It may be one of those that operates without the use of katas, pinans, or forms.

nice idea, although leave battle fatigue out of it. leave that for the entertainers to deal with.

Ok, so if anyone is watching this (Holo, Q... random Mod) Here's what how i think this could work

The command would be /kata#

There would be a new and different looks Kata that you would get at the 4th tier of each of the four skills. They won't have an actual function, no plus to attack, no healling BF, or wounds (this is why we have meditate)

Once you get Master you gain the ability to do something similar to a band florish. /masterkata# This will make people in the group do the kata of number in sequence (if they have it) Thus you could line up a row of TKA that have the same kata type /masterkata3 and you will all do it in sinc, like a dojo. and of course this being just a personal class emote, you can always stop doing it by just moving forward, so it can't be used to grief. Or even give all people a /masterkataoff if they won't want to worry about it.

I know this would serve no true function other then emersion for the TKA class, so it would be a very low priority, but i think i'll keep on this from time to time, who know's maybe we will get lucky one day and actually be heard?

Wow that sounds like a really cool idea. I'm also 100% for having new animations for our fighting technique as we increase in skill and level...it is rather redundant having the same moves (aside from special moves) through out both the brawler unarmed skills through TKA. I'd like to see low level unarmed skills have more of a street fighting look, and only once you reach TKA Novice does the skill start to resemble a martial art.

But that is just wishful thinking, from an emersion perspective.

Hey, that would be cool.

Get a group of 16 TKA, line them up 4 by 4 in some public place, and everyone does Kata at the same time

That would be pretty cool.

I think it would be pretty cool if every TKA could choose a different fighting style based on personal choice. So some would do more kicks, some would do more punches, some would balance them out, some would look closer to chinese martial arts etc....

Say something like /choosestyle #3

Would be a neat feature and I am pretty sure most TKA's would definately like this.

Using katas to raise Meditation experience? Amazing idea. I really like that..not to mention it would make more sense.

Good idea!

For those who mentioned about 'kata has no use in real situation'..... you guys are dead wrong.

...or maybe you guys are into Master Mike's Deadly Scorpian style or something ....

If you dont know 'kata' for any type of martial art, you are worthless. Just looking atone's 'kata' forms, you can tell what level of development stage he is at. ... well this only applies to traditional style of martial art, not to commercialized stupid american style

Anyrates, if you follow SW, many of Jedi concepts and lightsber techiniques are originated from Kendo, Japanese swordsmanship. As a SW fan and being involved in kendo and some other martial artsfor over 25yrs, I really love to see concept of 'kata' in SWG !
