Thread: No one's using Armor Break?

I second that. It makes a huge difference against the DWB NPC's, and against the SBD's (if you have ranged damaged dealers behind you, that is). But it doesn't seem to stick on the regular battle droids.
One thing I have noticed is that if i walk up to a beast, which i'm not in agro with (not NPC), and slap an armour break on it 9 times out of 10 the beast wont aggro. This gives me the advantage of an extra move before the battle starts. I always follow the armour break with a KD at the start of the fight becuase the damage I cause when it's down and while the armour break state is on is much greater.
in pvp it is a must to use

Depends on what you mean by "armor". If you mean PCs and NPCs wearing bone/composite/BH armor/whatever, thenarmor breakis not limited to them.
For just about every mob I've been fighting (currently CL 42, focusing mainly on PvE against animals) the combat spam shows something like:
"you hit {mob} with {attack} for X damage (kinetic), armor absorbed Y out ofZ possible", where X = Z - Y
Using armor break reduces Y, so you end up doing more damage to the mob's health. I'd assume that if a creature had no armor, X would equal Z, so in that situation armor break would be a waste of action points. Different mobs appear to have different damage reduction from armor (and generally higher CL = more reduction), so the relative benefit of armor break is something you have to gauge for yourself.
I usually throw one in on everything, but I only make a dedicated attempt to make it stick if the damage reduction without the break is above 100.

what i meant was the armor rating (that i check out on swg creatures for example). if it says that a creature has no armor, then i guess armor break is a waste, right?
