Too bad mitigation doesn't work to well against TKA's hmm?

Care to tell me how it works, and if it doesn't.. Why is it in unarmoured duels, people do 40 - 80 damage, just intimidation and stun doesnt do that much.

Mitigation works like this. It reduces the range between max and minimum damage based on your mitigation level. Level 1 reduces it by 20%, level 2 by 40%, and level 3 by a whopping 60%.

For someone with a T-21 that does 150-600 damage, Mitigation 3 is terrible. The range between 150 and 600 is 450. Reduced by 60%, that range becomes 180. That means the T-21 ends up doing only 150-330, which means you cut its maximum damage almost in half!

However, TKA damage doesn't have a range as dramatic. Let's take a nice VK, let's say 50-200 damage, in the hands of a TKM with +250 unarmed damage. It ends up doing 300-450 damage in the end. With Mitigation 3, that damage range of 150 is reduced 60% down to 60 damage. The final damage ends up being 300-360 damage.

So the rifleman ends up with a final damage score of 150-330, while the TKA ends up with a damage of 300-360. You see how TKA doesn't have as much to worry about?

Now, you ask, why do you do so little in PvP? Well, all damage (except Combat Medic poison/disease) gets a 75% reduction in PvP. So that 300-360 damage mitigated above ends up only doing 75-90 damage. Now imagine hitting someone wearing 80% kinetic resistance armor, your damage is reduced again down to 15-18 damage per hit. Using Unarmed Hit 3 you get a x4 multiplier, so if you spam Unarmed Hit 3 against someone with Melee Mitigation 3 wearing 80% kinetic armor, you end up doing 60-72 damage per hit. Sound familiar?

Oh, I forgot to add... Even in unarmored duels, your damage is further reduced by Toughness. I'm not sure how Toughness works, exactly, but a TKA gets a lot of it, so two TKMs dueling each other don't do a lot of damage. Oh, and intimidation cuts damage in half as well.

Almost positive toughness is just linear

I.E. 57 toughness= 57% reduction, of course this is only from observation, not actual testing

As Seabear alluded to, pretty much all of our attacks are like that. Do you think a person could beat a rancor or a man in full armor to death with his bare hands without some kind of mystical power or Chi ability?

- Knew it was something like that it worked.. Although I thought it was 40% for migation 1, 50% for 2 and 60% for 3.

- Would that be with or without intimidate, because I hit other TKM's for around 150 - 200 with ease, unless in intimidated and stunned.

The point the original poster is alluding to is the way in which real-life martial artists can disrupt a person's Chi flow, or force their own chi to "explode" not on the point of impact, but wherever they want.

I presume he's been watching "Mind, Body and Kickass Moves..."

Anyway, it's an interesting idea, but they could emulate it by giving us Armour Piercing attacks.

Not that I'm arguing either way...
