Thread: Why TKA SUCKS!

Try this instead. DONT SPAM.

keep your combat cue 1-3 attacks deep, and be prepared to clear it. use /follow, and prepare to burstrun if necessary to keep up with kiters or runners

Start the fight with warcry, (hit it twice, it never sticks as an opening move), then intimidate. hit a dizzy, a lunge, then a kd2. try a stun attack and a blind, but don't worry if they don't stick. now, hit a mind hit 2-3 times. about 12 seconds have elapsed, not enough time for warcry to be re-applied yet, so go back and attempt the other statuses that didnt stick the first time around.

now you potentially have a target who is dizzy, kd'd, blind, stunned, warcried, intimidated. Hit the warcry again, and do some damage (ua3, or combo, or mind hit depending on your opponent and whether they are armored, and buffed), reapplying the intimidate when it wears off. if they run, lunge to slow them and hit with another dizzy.

be prepared to be flexible. the chef foods, and buffs, and armor have made this class a lot less overpowered in pvp. you will have to use all your weapons in combat (status effects, specific pool damage - mind usually, but action against carbineers/bh's) to come out on top.

If you are being hit for large amounts of damage, getting armor holed, unequip your vks, and go bare fisted. that will close up the armor holes if you are fully armored. wear them down, rather than trying to take them out easy. make the combat HARD for them, even if you are losing. make them wonder if they are going to make it...make them sweat at the least.

If you get attacked by multiple players, clear your cue, change targets, intimidate and warcry each player, and start spin attacking if they are in range.

Hope the advice helps. Tka isn't the same class it was, but it's still great fun.

The dev team would never allow any kind of imbalance so that one group of people would "cut swaths" through crowds of people.

Woody, just a little reminder... There is a speed cap of 1. Not .75. Also any profession that wants to can hit this speed cap. It just takes the right combo of slices, attachments and weapon. So for those of you who scream DPS, get real. DPS is our enemy not our friend. A swordsman hitting the speed cap will hit much harder than we do. Same for rifle. Then figure in AP. I wish people would look at the bigger picture. As far as I am concerned too many profs have AP. And too many profs hit the speed cap.

More on topic however, spamming=death. Follow the examples given by the other posters and you will be fine.

This thread should be called, "I feel my TKA sucks, please help with tactics!"
I dosent suck at all. Its very good!

As everyone one else says here, they key to win in PvP (and PvE for that matter) is to vary your moves and use different tactics.
In your five attacks you could have done,

/stun; /dizzy; /blind; /posturechange; /knockdown; and possibly /unarmedhit3+++ if you got him down.

Spamming knockdown is never good. Mainly because if you hit twice in a row, your target will most likely be standing again.

Ok, I'll tread lightly here - I'd like some advice before I start whining.
First, I powerboosted (+550) and drank some brandy. No wounds. I went up to a guy who I had a tef on. I spam KD. I'm a TKA Master. First kd - nothing. Second kd - nothing. Third kd- nothing. Fourth kd - nothing. Fifth -kd Finally target goes down, then I use unarmed 3. While Im doing this, his imp friend runs over, range KD's me IN ONE SHOT, dizzies me, I'm down for the count. I die in about 3 seconds. I tried to Force of Will, but what'sthat? Oh, once every hour. I forgot, I used it in PVP earlier, and got instantlly incapped when i did - Infact, I never even saw a standing up animation, I hit it, but then I was dead. So... what's the point of Force of Will? To trick you in to thinking you have it? What's the point of us having a KD? Once we get KDed, we're pretty much dead -we have awful defense vs. dizzy and defense vs. KD. Yes, I used Center of Being. No, it didn't help. Can anyone offer some advice, here? I left the game 5 months ago, and came back thinking PVP would be a bit better balanced, but I'm about ready to leave. TKA doesn't do any more damage than any other class, we just hit FASTER, not harder. When you facter in a lack of any AP 2/3 weapons, and only kinetic damage, I don't see any balance. I realize there are a lot of people calling devs to nerf us, but... How? What could you take away from us? Force of will is pretty much useless if you can't even use it, and with buffs, Powerboost is really kind of useless.. Does anyone else agree? Disagree? I'm about ready to stop playing SWG again.. I realize we have a Heat knuckler coming, but seriously... anything with high kinetic resists usually has high heat resists... It's kind of a pointless weapon.

He ate food. There is a food that helps increase your chance vs KD. A LOT. the workaround? the less popular lunge+dizzy.

Also, Pistoleers also lack ap2 weapons. and you do a LOT more DPS then a pistoleer, trust me. Your tradeoff is that you have to get in range, and are kinetic only (soon to be also heat)

Dizzy, Lunge, if that doesnt work, KD, unarmed hit 3. If you do that oyu can kill a guy extremely fast.

TKA doesnt suck, you just went up against someone who knows his food.

yep, i've confirmed it. Although i just dropped TKM (man, it took me 4 days to finally do it, so much fun, but on to grinding for FS slot), i tried in PvP and PvE, against Creatures and NPC's, if you KD2 attack something twice, if the first one is successful, 95% of the time (there may be a rare case which i didn't come across for that other 5%) the second attack will leave them standing again.

plus... isn't there a timer on KDattack2 for the actual Knockdown to happen again?...... (just a thought)

well, i have to agree with almost everyone else on this thread. PvP mainly doesn't consist of just spamming one ability (eyeshot, KDattack2, Headshot), although there are the acceptions that sometimes slip by. Mixing up your whole attack cue really makes the fight : 1) more status ailments that affect your enemy [which REALLY helps as i've discovered PvP], 2) lets the enemy know your not just using one kind of attack (lets take KDattack2 for instance) and just chomps down on anti-KD food. and 3) the animations look cooler, your guys isn't just rewinding and doing the same thing over and over, so it actually looks alot more like a real fight.

Btw, for using TKA as their combat class (not using Rifleman shots), anyone discovered any good temploits w/ it? (Doctor is superb to hybrid it with i've discovered, but this discovery was made by almost everyone else thousands of years before i got on SWG hehe)

Believe it or not MCH rocks with TK not only because you get mutiple attacks but the person you fight usualy fixates on the pet not realizing you are a bigger threat

sorry for double-posting but lets calculate what defenses you had compared to what you CAN have....

TKM = Melee Damage Mitigation 3, some defense mod's (not as much as fencer though)
Center of Being = more defenses (note: this doesn't make you invulnerable, sometimes there's still such a thing as bad luck)
Powerboost = +550 on primary HAM bars
Vasarian Brandy = +350-400'ish all mind stats (can usually down two of these so i'm guessing you were in the +700's-800's)
and i'm going to take a random guess that yes you had some good sliced composite armor on (possibly stun resists)

You could have had also....
Fencer = Lots of defenses v KD and such
some master ranged class = Ranged Damage Mitigation 3 and more defenses (correct me if you had one)
SynthSteak = 40'ish% damage reduction for next (44'ish) hits (i may be wrong on this, it differs for every food)
Food for Def v KD attacks = self-explanatory
Dancer and Musician Mind buffs for the mind = anti-rifle head
(if you were something like zabrak) equilibrium and vitalize (warning: equilibrium doesn't work if your stunned. another good point to use status ailments against others in PVP)
Personal Shield Generator = nothing for kinetic that i've seen, and they seem to shift from planet to planet, but anything that reduces the damage by THAT much more can help
Doctor Buffs = LOTS more HAM (mygood packs hit for 2.4k) and makes TKA's not kill themselves while being fully armored and have VK's equipped

But with my experiences of playing with 2 brothers anda nephew on the same server, and having quite a number of PvP friends, the most valuable thing you can have in a fight like that is what they had and you didn't... a good friend

(if you want to put it blatantly, the REAL reason you lost is because you were rebel and they were imperial it's all a big conspiracy isn't it?)

Ooo.... good point Ariekb. Pets alsohave lots of possibilities.... KD, Dizzy, Cripplingstrike, StrongDisease... but they usually get whacked fast these days in PvP, the problemalso is BE's are usually there only for food's and PvE tank pets (kinetic resists, high HAM and light armor), no one makes PvP or Offensive (1k+ damage) pets anymore on Tarquinas

Moxin has a very good point----getting Knocked Down in ONE SHOT after literally spamming our own KD2, and they just continue on like we did nothing more than winked at them.

This is especially ironic considering all of the braying jackass types who keep crying Nerf on TKA. We have more than our fair share of weaknesses, only one type of damage (and the one we'd want the least), and get our butts handed to us in PvP just as much as we deal it out. Yet these ppl keep coming in here complaining like were some overpowered Jedis or something.

The biggest problem with this game? That anyone can play---even if their IQ is so low it makes you wonder how they were able to install it in the first place.
