Tea Kwon Do. And i do not mean to stretch it here, but Teras Kasi i have also studied. it is a hidden art in RL FYI.

Huh?! I just read that you studied "Teras Kasi" and that it's a "hidden art" in RL(?) i've examined and/or sampled dozens and dozens of arts modern and traditional, and I've never heard of Teras Kasi outside of SWG. You say "hidden art"...where does it come frome? How did it develope? What is it's central philosophy? it's method? What sort of techniques does it use? (striking, grappling, weapons, internal mastery) is this documented somewhere? I would be interested to know these things. I hear about new martial arts every day I've never heard of before and the trend is, well, intriguing.

Hapkido is the "The Art of Coordinated Power/Way of Harmony/Way of Union with Ki". The Han Gul used to write the word are taken from the same Chinese characters which, if read in Japanese would be pronounced "Aikido". Yet, these two sibling arts are not the same. They both share a common origin to Daito-Ryu Aiki-jujutsu, though the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba went farther than Yung Sul Choi, (though by all accounts didn't directly pass on the teachings of Aiki no jutsu to his students and only taught up to the Aiki-jujutsu, the same as Choi) Beyond this comon origin, the two have different contributing elements and vastly differernt techynique curriculum. Aikido comes from the Daito-Ryu Samurai school, as well as spear fighting and fencing and some portions of Ninjutsu, all fined tuned and adjusted by Ueshiba for maximum efficiency
Hapkido shares the same dynamic grappling concepts as found in Aikido, though the 2 some times implement them differently. hapkido is a modern integration of the techniques and methods from the following traditions: Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Karate-do, Kendo, Kenjutsu, Gum Do, Judo, Boxing, Aiki-jujutsu and some native Taoist Korean striking art practiced by monks I forget the name of. It also has a helping of Wing Chun leg trapping techniques used in conjuction with locks and throws. it has a huge arsenal of strikes, and more Kicking technieques than virtually all schools of TKD (over 156), it also teaches classical Budo weaponry (rope, knife, Sword, long staff, short stick), as well as Cane techniques and places heavy emphasis on meditation and Ki development. The emphasis in practice is mainly on locking and throwing and the grappling elements are stressed over the offensive elements. it also teaches anatomy, elements of healing, etc. A great book to read is marc Tadschi's Hapkido: History, Tradition, Technique I am very found of this art and I find it very comprehensive.

The art was officially started in '58 but has it's roots in the oldest styles of Korean martial arts. The Grandfather of our Grandmaster was the martial arts instructor to the Korean Royal Court. The South Korean Govt has recognized Kuk Sool as the official source for Korean martial arts. Here is the web site. www.kuksoolwon.com

I am a 4th degree black belt in the ancient Scottish art ofFu-Q. It's mosty just headbutting and kicking people when they are on the ground.
Seriouly though, I have a black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do.

Formal training in Tang Soo Do, up to green belt. Then played around a bit with some Akido, Tai Chi, and Escrima. Also, study much of Bruce Lee's philosophies from his book, The Tao of Jeet Kune Do and apply them to what I have learned in the dojo. Like him, taking what works and throwing out what doesn't. I believe every artist is different in their approach and what works for them. Form, no form.

I am teaching myself Jeet Kune Do due to the lack of Wing Chun and other teachers ANYWHERE in this contry. Lived east and west in the last couple years. Oh well. I think without formal teaching, Jeet Kune Do is the way to go. Just my opinion though.
