Thread: Teras Kasi Artist Issues Designer responses
inspite all logic i startet a new char yesterday and he is going to become tka. lol ... earning xp was funny. even a worrt can keep running and i don't hit him. he doesn't even have to run fast - just keep moving and i can't hit him. now and then there is a mob that just keep moving for 5 minutes or so. 5 minutes chasing a worrt for 94xp is just crap.
i don't even wanna think about pvp. for a game that we must pay for this is just plain silly. by all respects, the devs must have been on drugs when they decided melee can only hit if they stand still.
I think I appreciated Selwynns posts on the first page the most. Although I've been just as hot tempered and "whiny" as some on these posts, I understand that the Devs have a lot of work on all classes to do. And I don't think they don't givea **edit** about us, they just have a lot on their plates. HOWEVER, it's quite possible they could have sorted outa LOT these problems much in beta if they waited to release. As it stands, we are all beta testers at the moment and either have to deal with it and be patient, or leave the game.

"Not supposed to chain special moves"..??? "If you can catch someone"...??? Did I get a speed increase that I wasn't aware of? How about using my hands while I'm chasing someone down? Everyone else in the game can shoot me while they run away from me, but aparently my hands are tied.
Basically, TKA's are good for one kill, because you are dead if you have to fight a second target. I get poisoned first. I am the designated punching bag for the group, while they sit at a nice distance racking up the Flame Thrower xp.
Ever tried to be helpful to your group when taking on an AT-ST? Whatta joke!
All the complaining about it is not going to fix anything for me,and staying a TKA will only ruin my gaming experience. Next time I logon, I am freeing up all those skill points and I am buying me the best Flame Thrower I can get my hands on. Maybe then I'll do more in the game than run from cloningfacility to point B. On second thought, I am keeping meditation.
yeah, specials chained are the only way for pvp success in melee, if someone's close to melee (tka in particular) that should be they're last mistake. the ham is pretty rediculous. either that should be fixed or speed should be increased in movement (not attack).
combat medics have terrain negotiation?
you need to do a better job with your people skills at lease word smith his responses. If one of my employee's had stated things in this fassion to my customer he would have been in my office doing some explaining.
when speaking to a customer their needs are always important, even if you cant meet thier needs or are unwilling to.
I am a tk master and I have to say that I don't find anything wrong with the class at the moment. Look at a situation in real life.. Someone is running at you getting ready to beat you down hand-to-hand. You just happen to have a pistol/carbine/rifle with you.. What would be the logical outcome? DON'T BRING A KNIFE TO A GUNFIGHT! If you like to be a tka in the game, then you may want to think about some sort of ranged defense such as carry a pistol/carbine/rifle or a critter to send after them. (After all... every npc seems to run faster than you when they are chasing you.)
I am of the opinion that Teras Kasi Artist, for the most part, is as it should be. You're a martial artist in a gun-wielding universe--taking care of business is gonna be hard. Making a frontal assault on someone with a flamethrower is downright suicide--as it should be.But, if you cansurprise your enemy and put him on the ground, it's all over for the poor sucker. In real life, it's just the same.
Now, the problem is not with the TKA profession itself--it's the lack of being able to gain the surprise factor. And why is that? It's cuz of the stupid radar! As a declared faction member, you're a shining beacon to every enemy faction member around you. You're never gonna surprise someone when you show up as the only red dot on his rader screen. If we're going for realism, a martial artist (or any melee fighter for that matter) should be able to sneak up undetected on his opponent and "snap his neck" from behind. I don't think we should argue for more changesin the TKA profession, but rather for a more realistic gameplay environment. The fact that everyone in the game can detect an enemy 128 meters away, in all directions is NOT REALISTIC! Get rid of the radar, and I guaruntee that it would bring balance between melee and ranged like nothing else. I think it would benefit everyone, and bring a lot more intersting gameplay to Star Wars Galaxies.
Let me know what you think.
Buckey,
Well said...
A little realism would go a long way to balance the game.
I can shoot through mountains?
Rancors hang out in cantinas?
Everyone runs the same speed on level ground?
Pistols shoot as far as rifles? (where is my scope)
It is free to take a Rancor on a shuttle with you?
I can’t trip someone while running?
I am tough only when holding certain weapons?
And the radar is just worthless care-bear junk that patronizes real PvPers.
Those were very lame responses… The fact is the game suffers from too much math and not enough real world. What I mean by this is that if the developers would just make the game more realistic it would naturally add balance, emersion, and strategy. Currently it is all about your template. That’s way too boring. Make it so we can be at least a little creative.
I understand the answers that were given... But dissapointed none the less...
Keep the HAM costs to a fraction based system not a standard -500 or whatever, so that it will also hurt those with doctor buffs
