Thread: TKA Novice Question
I am currently able to learn either Int Balance Conditioning, or Int Power Techniques (also meditative tech, but that will come last). With the outcry going on about KD eating up our HAM, would it be wiser for me to get the +7 power and +10 speed with Dizzy? Or should I still go for the balance and combat equilibrium with KD?
If you have an opinion, please explain your reasoning behind it. Is KD comepletely useless, or does it have its merits?
Thanks much!
I disagree with the reply poster.
Yes, the HAM cost for KD has been increased, but if you drop your knucklers when executing the KD, it's not that big of a HAM drain... not at all. Bottom line is that you CANNOT solo high end mobs without KD. I DEFINATELY would advise you to get Balance1 first.
My recommended path is such: Balance1, then Power1-4, then Balance2-4, then Meditation1-4; and of course pick up precision as the combat xp comes your way.
Good luck in your decision.

thanks man!
Sorry if this is covered already on the boards...
I will be TKA Novice hopefully by tonight. I was curious what I should hunt from there. I have ready FAQ's and they say I should hunt Hurtunn Huntresses and Tusken Raiders. They say I should use knockdown. This confuses me because when you get Novice you don't have knockdown or dizzy. So what should I kill for the 175k xp for Knockdown, and then the additional 175k xp for Dizzy. I have found it hard enough to get the 70k xp for unarmed 4, and then the killer 125k xp for novice TKA. Can anyone help me out here? ![]()
Thanks in Advance for your help. ![]()

OK, the jump between unarmed and Novice TK is massive. At unarmed level you get like 400 xp per kill, thats a good one too... At Novice TK youll be getting 3k+ for a good kill. Once you reach novice TK, you shouldn't have any problems getting xp, just get the right missions for the xp is the trick. I find the pikets on Dantooine are awesome xp for getting the first few levels of the TK trees. Buff up and grab a couple of missions and go to town, if you're not a healer, take one with you, and I seriously suggest getting a set of VKs when you first start. Try and have them speed sliced because this is the primary issue, get as fast as possible. Slap em on and use warcry. Unarmed hit 2 is an option because with VKs on it deals good damage but the VKs make HAm costs almost not worth it. So it's up to you but the point I'm trying to make is, you won't have any xp problems once you hit NTK, the problem is finding your preferred playing style after that.
Hope it helps and god luck
Thank you. That does help ![]()
So if I understood you correctly, you can wear two VK's?
Styrak
No sorry if I was unclear on that, a lot of people think this. The VKs are vibro knucklers, the idea is there that there should be a piar but only one can be equipped.
But what I forgot to mention was, getting your VKs speed sliced is important for low level TKs then, once you move up the power tree you gain more speed and damage and VKs are no longer needed anymore which means you can go back to spaming specials if you need to. I personally think that VKs are silly as it's an unarmed profession, hence why should we be equipping weapons? Hanving said that I am only 2 1 1 2, so am not fast enough without them and still wear them. Speed sliced at 1.4
Ahhh ok. Yeah I have one now, that I use even though I'm not a novice yet, but it does help with speed. Mines 2.2 though. I tried to get it sliced but it failed. I think I'm going to buy two more that way one should work. What should I look for in speed and dmg with a unsliced VK?
Styrak
Ya know, I'm not sure about the damage and speed of a good unsliced set of VKs, I just bought mine from a master weaponsmith that I use because I know he makes the best quality stuff. I wasn't that bothered about whether it was good or not though, and I wasn't planning on spending a huge amount of money on it either because as soon as I hit power 4, I'm ditching the VKs simply because there's no need for them anymore. At power 4, I would be faster than my 1.4 VKs as it is so...
