Thread: How effective really is TKA in PvP
As i started going through my strategy for becoming an "uber" melee fighter, i instantly saw the advantages of TKA. The KD/Dizzy, the amazing toughness, the accuracy, and the meditation most of all. So I started out, and experimented a little in PvE and PvP. I was then 2/1/1/2 in TKA. The damage is high compared to any ranged profession at this level, but because of my friend's interest in Swordsman, which was amazing in PvE, I figured, okay if TKA is for 1/2 PvE and 1/2 for PvP, and swordsman is for PvE, and pikeman is for nothing, the Fencer must be PvP.
So I talked to a couple fencer's and a few TKM's. I was hearing about TKM's doing a max of about 4k damage when a critter is KD'd. However, manyof the Fencer's that i spoke to have only hit for about 3k or so.
Now this doesn't make much sense, but i just went for Fencer =P. But, first i decided to get Master Brawler. And so as i leveled slowly in Pikeman *yawn*, i finally got master brawler. There is one advantage to master brawler, well many actually...there is a KD for all professions, There is warcry 2, and Intimidate 2. However a little known trick is that if you KD/Warcry a critter it will stay down for about 15 seconds until the warcry wears out from when the KD sticks.
And so I leveled up in Fencer.
I am now a BladeMaster (Master Fencer) and Master brawler. And I will tell you that TKA is NOT the best PvP profession. I have dueled about 5 TKM's and beaten them all, without doubt.
If you wish to become ultimate in PvP, fencer is the way to go, not TKA.
melee prof duel its simple .. its the first who sticks a kd + dizzy and warcry.

WELL anyways since im for nothing i guess i lose all my duels eh? well you're right
but master brawler is prolly helpin a lot, im almost there and SLOWLY LEVELING ONE-HAND .... in 30 minutes
rofl dont mind me im just an idiot. i gotta duel more blademasters, they dont usually seem like the dueling type, most often the tks are the pkers. gl dueling in the future ![]()
The fencer's defense vs. knockdown and dizzy makes them the perfect TKM killers, and that defense only applys if you actually manage to hit them. I pvp a lot, and I can tell you the only person any TKMshould fear is the blademaster. We have a KD/Dizzy combo, yes, but they can just avoid it with no problem and do a Dizzy/Lunge to us, pretty much ending things.
In my opinion, most melee classes are balanced, besides the poor pikeman. Although they get the best aoe attacks.... so I dont know....
I don't remember if one of the five TKM's actually had armor on, but i bet one of them did. I saw 3 with VK's on. I'm just saying that Fencers can pwn TKM's in PvP over and over.

heh, stupid TKMs then, I know I've never lost to a fencer. Unless they have an actual knockdown move they aren't going to be changing my posture any time soon, I can't remember the last time anyone or anything successfully hit me with a posture down attack.
I like Swordsman better than TKA for PvP. Nobody is impressed when you KD2 on them and spam Unarmed Hit 3. Swordsman has a KD/Dizzy also and can hit the mind for massive amounts. Even when my opponent wears a helmet I still do 500+ damage to theirmind. Only once have I fought someone who had a really great helmet, and even still I was hitting for around 150. Plus Swordsman has bleeds.
I have both professions to be more versatile. TKA gets more status changes.. as in Blind Dizzy and Stun. And if you're fighting someone with very high defense TKA is the way to go since you attack at the speed cap rather than Swordsman who are a bit slower.
