Focus Thread: Innate Armour vs Battle Armour - The Armour Break Debate
Note: All of the following post is solely my opinion & based on my experiences of the game, & nothing else.
Firstly apologies for my absence lately, been a bit caught up in game doing this that & the other but I'm back around now.
Ok on to the topic.
Recently there have been more & more posts about Armour Break Slices & how many people would like to see them, so I felt we needed a single discussion thread on the topic to try & see what the big opinions are, & so here is that thread.
Ok so what are your opinions on this?
Personally mine are that I wouldn't mind seeing something to counter Armour Break as a TKA, however I do think it may not be very likely. Due to how the other slices work I'm not so sure we would see anything granted. Since we have the choice, use our Innate armour which never decays. or use another armour we are certed for with an AB Slice.
Personally though I think that if we were to ask for anything for this it would be a food.
Why? Because as it stands we are the profession that is most removed from crafters & so a food would put us a back in to the loop again.
I also don't believe we would be able to get any better then maybe a 50% (maybe 60%) reduction, due to the nature of our Innate armour & how it has no need for some of the other armour slices since it has no condition.
The other ideas I've seen thrown around & my opinions on them are as follows:
- Robes -- Don't like this idea at all, since I'm very much against having all TKA's running around & looking the same. It's been an old discussion (one that part of it might come up again soon as I'm planning on bringing up an old discussion) but it's one I'm not a fan of.
- Innate protection against AB -- simply too over powering in my eyes & I don't think the Devs would even take it seriously should the idea be raised.
- Alternative Power Boost -- Another idea I would like to throw in to the mix though, an alternative power boost, not stackable with normal power boost but one that would grant our innate armour a resistance to armour breaks. Maybe obtainable through a TKA quest or something?
- Foods -- though I've covered this one before, this is the one I believe we should suggest.
- No change -- Possibly the most likely, while I wouldn't mind seeing something looked at for it I'm unsure on how it would effect the over all balance of armours etc. But hey it doesn't hurt at least talking about the ideas.

Hate this idea tooRobes are for Jedi to all look the same.

Id be thinking about this and i agree it would give other profs a reason to moan + it would be unfair as it would be free.

Nice idea id like something like this as long as they didnt put the quest in the new expansion. Some of us dont want to pay for a small amount of content.

I agree this would be the most viable and easiest to implement the filling / effect time should be appropriate to a 40 filling 30 minute duration.In my opinion

TKM is listed as a tank without a armour break reduction of sometype it puts us way below swords and pikes as a PvP tank.
But what’s your opinion on it?

Another note to this is that you have to take into consideration.
Jedi and other classes can use food(this will decrease melee effectiveness against them unless the food is made a teras Kasi Master only food )
If we got it on our innate armour Jedi would ask for it and no doubt get it see above.

I'm glad you mentioned those as I ment to put it in the original post.
For the food I'd imagine it would only effect Innate armours. & of course that would include Jedi, since if we got something I'd imagine they would want it as well. Which is one of the reasons I think food would make most sense, since then it's also a trade of on what you choose to use your stomach space for.

It definatly couldnt be something like spiced tea which is a drink and forget.Im still new to the cu as ive only come back recently but u would need something that made a penalty to make it non over powering.
The only thing id worry about is our dmg output going to absolute nothing against Jedi with the food :/causing us to nerf ourselves.Any opinions on this ?
The foods would have to be TK specific. Otherwise anyone can use them and we are back to square 1. I like advanced powerboost but they'd have to make a long timer for it to be good in pvp. Personally, I'd like to see only TKM be immune to AB somehow. If you spend enough skill points to be master you should be justly rewarded. I think something like advanced CoBforTKMs that enables immunity would work. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't innate armorslightly weaker than its crafted counterpart?So aren't we already a step behind? I do not see thepart about being overpowering either.
What I think is funny, is that every change we make now is determined by how all the Jedi will use it to their advantage. Jedi heal, Jedi tank. Jedi loot pearls and crystals and make lightsabers for themselves. Do they do anything else for anyone in the game other than level people? Also, how many Jedi do we need before a FRS fix? I think everyday there's a new Jedi on every server. Welcome to Jedi Wars. I salute the selfless Jedi in this game, if they exsist.

When I said "immune", I didn't mean that.
What I meant was AB protection similar to having an AB slice.
how about giving TK's a "defense vs armor break"
currently sliced armor gives a percentage decrease of the effectiveness of every armor break applied.
a defense vs armor break would not decrease an armor breaks effectiveness, but decrease the chance of an armor break being applied

one last idea:
It might make more sense if the 'food' was spice that only TKM's could take, and any non-TKM would suffer an incap if they took the food, or they just couldn't take it whatsoever. This would give something back to the Smuggler's by maybe adding a smuggling quest that got them the schematic for the spice, and solve our problem whilst not being too off the wall; kind of like we are conditioned to take drugs that to other's would be fatal.
Although again, in this case you run into a situation where someone could have TKM/M.Swords and wear armor with armor break reduction and eat the spice....

Not too crazy about Robes (because I know there would be very little verity - look at Jedi) , but a hat or a belt that would be TKA specific would be cool (with AB bonuses).

This would be ideal...but we all know its not going to happen.

I like the idea of temporary buff (few minutes)... still not 100% that it should not be stackable with p... This would be a tradeoff, so they might go for it more.

Foods ???? Are you serious ??? WTH... Why should we have to eat magic mushrooms to help us with something that should be our innate ability... I think this is a terrible idea... Foods have replaced pre-CU buffs...and its getting worse... Instead of finding a doc to buff you, you need dozen of crates of crap to carry with you everywhere you go....We dont neeed to add to the problem....!!!

- I like the idea of Advanced COB at Master, which would give us decent (50% at least) AB resist and no warmup. Master TK is completely pointless when wearing armor ATM.
- Someone also suggested Master Level AB recovery... That would work as well..
In general I think we should be more aggressive in our attempts to ask for stuff... Look at Tank and BH forum.(BH prof got a lot of love...and asked for a LOT).. This is a legit problem for us, so its not as though we are asking for the world. We should be reasonable but not timid !! I think lesser solution like foods would hurt us more in a long run...because devs would consider the case closed.
