Thread: The Union of educated discussion
I am asking to start a union. A union of educated reasonable people to really focus on the issues at hand. Issues pertaining specificaly for the profesion of teras kasi. I know more than a few of you are tired of posting reasonable honest posts meant for discussion on a mature level, only to see it smashed down by hatred and ignorance. I realise *myself being one* that everyone has bad days and post mean or un-thought out topics, but there is an overall drudgery in these forums every day all day. The reasons can range from the current nerf, to any number of other side issues. they can be positive or negetive, but in the end i really dont see any good coming out of them.
Also, *and no offense to the younger members* but most posts are not done in a correct manner. and yes, i realise that there is no specific rule to this point. and am not expecting everyone to be able to discuss things properly. but when people attack other peoples posts with ignorance, then you are intruding on the rights of the individual poster.
If any of this is making sense to you...then speak up and say so. if not, then im sure there will be plenty of negetive posts.....i only urge all of you who understand me to pay no attention to those posts.
lets do this, lets start our union.
no, he wasobviously condescending and snide. pokeing at spelling and grammer issues of my post. there was no need for that exept out of negetive feelings.
besides, his post is useless....everyone knows that internet textual grammar rules are totally and all together different than normal traditional rules of writing. sheesh.

While I agree with the idea in general, I can't help but wonder if such things could be possible. A group of like-minded individuals striving peacefully for a greater good......on a forum.
My years of experiencebeing a forum moderator brings me to say "no." "No," because there is no manner of truely holdingone accountable over the internet. You know it all too well that the only thing that can be done is type up insulting phrases and attempt to injure another person via emotion, or in doingso remove said individual's credibility within the eyes of others. But this will not stop the ignorant, rude, and/orconfrontation hungry masses from wreaking havok while others attempt to intelligently debate.
I don't mean it can't be tried, but it must be tried with an open mind and without a "holier-than-thou" tone.
Tayse please shut your mouth before someone high up listens to you. After reading your previous comment that "all classes don't have to be equal" I really want you to remove yourself from any kind of position relating to relaying information regarding our class. If you have ever played another MMORPG you'd understand why this bothers me; in EVERY online RPG out there, every class IS balanced (or at least tries to be). The fact that the devs seem to have given up on melee in SWG should make more people a lot more mad, and we should fight for what our class should be, not fight for the next best thing.
And after this: "and am not expecting everyone to be able to discuss things properly" you have lost all rights to call someone ELSE snide and condescending.

not necesarily like minded. we could disaggree...in fact i hope we would. but in the disagreement there would be honesty and respect, and a desire by all for the greater good of the game. im sure there are many differering opions that could still be honorable to each other.

he wasn't necessarily attacking you tayse, try to read into things a little farther than just "ME ME ME". i believe you realized this at some point after your initial knee-jerk reaction, but you posted said reaction anyway. his point is an extremely valid one:

Or, perhaps, would you rather read something like this; a clear and concise message with a crisp point. The basis of this argument is that you must relay an idea (thought, notion, epiphany, opinion,etc) without a lot of grammatical mistakes,so that the only focal pointpeoplecan latch onto is your subject matter. People that use double-negatives and spell like their manuscript was first published in a woodchipper tend to have their whole point lost before people consider the subject matter at hand.
As I only caught a couple mistakes in your post, I'm quite positive you're safe from his generalization.

While I like the idea tay. like someone said its highly unlikely that you will be able to find any group of people who will discuss an issue respectively.
And to vortex, there are many great minds out there that are horrible with language skills. May seem like it shouldnt happen, but remember everyone is different. Many people are great at math while others are great at english, but they can still have a great mind and many good points. Also, people get tired and a lot of people dont spell or care about their grammar when they are half asleep or just getting off of work/school.
