Thread: A Question For The TKA
Are you suggesting that it's not fair TKM does more damage with their bare hands? ![]()
Bare in mind you have compared unarmed 3 which is a non-pool specific attack to pool specific attacks. Swordsmen etc can concentrate all damage to the mind pool, whereas a TKM using unarmed 3 has a 1/3 chance to hit the mind pool. If you want to compare unarmed head hit 1 to the other melee head hits your findings would be a bit different. ![]()
Meh I've had my mind pool raped by swordsmen but other TKAs seemed to take alot longer to bring my mind pool down.
weird.

Are you serious? Wouldn't expect this kind of answer from a veteran..
Let me see if I can lay it out for you "Mr Veteran"...
Lets say you have TKA that can't target a specific pool and a Swordsman that can target a pool..

usually if I fight a creature I take out most of the health and then it jumps to either mind or action.. once that is low enough then it switches to whichever was left over... roughly have to do (approx 6k of damage)
Swordsman targets the mind and 2100 is all he needs....

I have been pondering my charts of data, and have found this interesting set of facts.
Vibroknuclker 25-180 2.8 Spd(1.0 at master)
TKA Dmg Mod- 200
Master DPS- 380, Unarmedhit3- 1520
Two Handed Swordsman
Two Handed Curve Sword- 30-280 1.9 spd(1.0 at master)
Master DPS- 280, 2handheadhit3- 1120
Powerhammer - 150-680 5.4 spd(4.1 at master)
Master DPS- 165, 2handheadhit3-663
How is this at all fair?
Your numbers are somewhat off and there are a bunch of factors left out:
- The min damage on that vibro knuckler is too low
- The unarmed damage bonus is +250 not 200
- Swordsman weapons are AP2 whereas the vibro knuckler is only AP1
- The best Swordsman weapon for DPS (until we get the scythe blade) is a speed sliced powerhammer
- Hit 3 will make for a more valid DPS comparison than Head hit 3. Head hit 3 haskilling power very similar (superior,if youthrow in a couple bleeds that aren't reduced by armor and resists (soon to change))to Hit 3, but it has a substantially lower damage multiplier,so it is actually better than the numbers would indicate. Long story short,it is not directly comparable to any other profession's Hit 3.
Take all this into account, and the numbers will revealthe truth: a TK artist does more DPS than a Swordsman, against any and all armor levels.
To answer your question:No, it isn't fair...it's obscene and unbalanced.
The basic problem here isn't that TK is doing too much damage, it's that the other melee professions haven't got the love yet.
Way back in September, Q-3PO posted some notes by the combat designer, which included the following:

Melee Damage Output:
I believe that melee damage is too low across the board. I will be investigating move abilities and look into bringing all melee class damage up to a more appropriate level.
You know what happened next...TK got buffedin the damage department (it's easy to change a number to add up to +250), but the rest of us got the finger.
The other melee professions are going to be doing more damage, I think, but it's going to takea weapons balance pass (in progress) and this is in the context of a rework of the whole combat system, so... patience is advised.
