Thread: Spin Attack-TKA still needs it to tank-put it back in the pre-req in CU
The TKA profession has the role of tank. It's strongly believed that we will be the ultimate tank in the game. All professions have been given three ratings all out of five on Offence, Defence & Crowd control, TKA was listed as 3-5-0.
"I don't understant how we can tank as a TKA if I can only fight 1 npc/creature on me at a time and everytime a groupmate shoots the other aggroed mob they would go for the group mate instead of the tank."
You don't need spin attack. You need to tell your groupmate to not be an idiot and stop shooting stuff at random. The whole point of tanking is that you occupy a mob while everyone else damages it. If they start shooting everything else they'll just get themselves killed.
That's basic, and I mean basic tactics most people learn as a newbie in any MMORPG.
If you have problems with groups of mobs, either pick up a crowd control second profession (smuggler, pikeman maybe) or get another person in the group to take that duty.
TKM has Mid Offense, High Defense, bad crowd Control.
Pikeman has low offense, decent defense, and good crowd control.
Dont take away what is special from them.
Melee attacks arent weapon specific, if you want to have a spin attack, get it from pikeman. You should be able to use it with your VK equipped.
edit: Also, even if you didnt have spin attack, you can still tank multiple enemys, you just cant hurt them.

And how do you suggest the Pikeman is a 3-3-5, and Swords is 5-2-3? Pikeman has a extra point. The roles seem pretty clear and fine to me.

Ok. So I can theoretically be TKM, get pikeman 0100 for the spin, equip VK, spin attack and still have innate armor working? I guess that will work on aggroing them?
So a good FOTM would be a Swordsman for high offense, TKM for high defense and 0100 pikeman forthe spin leaving me with 42 points to dabble somewhere else like medic. Need to test out 0300 pikeman to see if improved spin attack is even better.
Naked Swordsman, doing Pikeman spins. How's that for a TKM tank (swordsman really)?

Given what little we know about the CURB, no.
0100 Pikeman gives you spin attack.
A master pikeman has a more damaging spin attack, an area KD attack, Warcry, and Intimidate.
Of course, if you wanted, you could get the spin attack, but you're probably better off attakcing one thing at a time using the swordsman specials.
Personally, after the CU, im going TKM/Master Pikeman, with a bit of fencer and Swordsman for offense.
There is still going to be a lot changing. We dont exactly know what specials are what yet, and Skill Point cost will still likely change.
Using the good old Dizzy, Knockdown, Unarmed Hit 3 spam. tactic,
its quicker than spamming spin attacks.

Yeah as a TKA because the spin attack on live is not that strong and neither will it be in CU. However,on CU, a spin attack using a swordsman weapon such as powerhammer would be powerful especially since you are using TKA defenses and don't use up much action. Being a tank means aggroing most NPCs by doing enough damage to them to keep them on you or using area taunt (swordsman) when they try to break off and aggro your group mates.
It will be as strong as what a the swordsman in live is now.
Plus there is nothing as impressive as seeing numbers streaming off 10 tuskens as you bitchslap them all
