Thread: What TKA really needs inthe Combat Upgrade...

Grappling.

You know, joint locks, throws, take downs, ground fighting, sacrifice throws (used as a counter to a Knockdown attack), bone breaking, paralysis, disarming weapons specials (you don't need that gun/sword/knife/baton/lightsaber/rifle, whatever. YES, THAT'S RIGHT! some devs and animators with a real knowledge of a well rounded martial art like Hapkido, or Ninjutsu should seriously look at integrating those concepts with TKA. At the moment TKA is more of a kick boxer than a martial artist per se. I'm starting this profession soon to combo my Commando, and I would LOVE to throw one of those annoying NPC guys hard into ground ground for running at me, and end up holding his sword and leaving him with a broken arm on the way down. That's right. Immobilied. so he lives, no he can't attack me, but now that his arm ibroken he better run like hell before I decide not to be polite next time. There are so many possibilites for this profession I KNOW you guys would LOVE some of these additions:


Death Touch- D.O.T. attack

Vibrating Palm -penetrates body armor

Leap Attack! ...that's right, leaping flying attacks for damage multipliers that have a knockdown effect-you got it.

Double Strike -strikes with both hands

Energy disruption-"ki" based attack, variable effects.

Joint Lock-immobilizes attacker and halts all following attacks (you might ask, if that's true, why use anything else? Why indeed.)


I wanted to write up my vision of what TKA could be, and directions it could do, but my posts tend to vanish quickly, so I won't bother for a while.


If you think this is too much or too powerful, don't fight one. No one should be fool enough to fight a TK Master in melee combat unless they're holding a lightsaber.

Throwing stars and knives would be cool to help prevent kiting. Plus it would be another crafted consumable

I think those are some great ideas, I would like to see some more combos, and defense moves, the throws would be awesome, not sure how they would do it, but it would be cool.

TKMs should be able to turn into the creatures that their attacks are named after and then add the ATAT lasers on their heads.



Oh and one more thing. Have you guys ever seen those sigs that are lines of text and look like they are a part of the post?

*Imagines a TKM puting an Ancient Canyon Krayt Dragon into a headlock*

Yeah some of that would be cool but you have to think, we fight more than just humanoids, and if the moves were restricted to humanoids only, it wouldn't work with this game's engine. Every Humanoid is different and the animations would look really awkward on say a small or really large humanoid. Think of the belts in game, on small people they float half a foot from their waist,and on fat/large people they sink into their skin. The same would be the case with these moves.

I want nerf knuckles that nerf whoever's profession back to novice starter profession for approximately 5 minutes. that would own, then tka would be balanced!

What TKA fights that is not humaniod he/she can use still use strikes on. Serisouly though, martial Arts lore is full of great ideas for specials, as well as complete arts that integrate striking & Kicking, Grappling/Locking/Throwing/Weapons & Ki mastery. In our case, they should add new specials to TKA for those that are Force Sensitive to reflect that 'Ki" mastery, but I doubt they ever would. Wouldn't it be great to get time-dialation effects for FS that make your enemies move in slow motion? (Enter: The Mattrix and John Wu's "Bullet Time") This is just one of many legendary Ki mastery effects....endless possibilities. Lasers? That's funny. Not sure if I'ld agree with that one. What about StarWars versions of Ninpo weapons and tactics? Metsubishi (blinding powers and flash bombs), burning weapons? Anyone ever seen an Aiki-jujutsu demonstration? It's really true that those guys can throw you without even touching you. You have to go see one-it's amazing. I'm a student of Hapkido, and Dojunim Han Jae, Ji did some pretty amazing things recently to demonstrate Ki. I have him on digital8 video making another Master stop in mid air while doing a flying kick and drop to the ground...and I got it on film! Endless possibilities!
