but its not the skills fault that it is crap. its the factthat deathblows can be macroed and many creatures db instantly. what do you do? you macro force of will but that doesnt help. so what do i suggest but i know it wont happen? i suggest force of will to change into a prevention instead of a recovery.
i would like to see that you focus so that you dont lose consciousness. you activate the skill and under some small time frame you cannot be incapped. ill say 10-20 sec, just enough time to escape or at least try to.

I agree
It used to work great, then they made more creatures deathblow. But allong with more of them deathblowing they made them deathblow instantly. means there's very little point in force of will anymore.

At the moment it's all about geting lucky when you're fighting anything thats medium to high level. This has beena top issue for us for a long time now (since they increased Death Blow chance many months back).
I acctuly quite like the idea of allowing it to act as an Avoid Incap style move for a few seconds. One thing it would have to keep though is the chance of sucsess so how about something like this:
1) Activate Force of Will
2) Stays active for 60seconds, If not needed skill is unavailable for 15mins go to 1.
3) If one of your HAM bars hits 0 at any time during the 60 seconds a roll ocours.
4) Out come of this roll decides what happens when you hit 0.
2) Stays active for 60seconds, If not needed skill is unavailable for 15mins go to 1.
3) If one of your HAM bars hits 0 at any time during the 60 seconds a roll ocours.
4) Out come of this roll decides what happens when you hit 0.
Complete failure, skill fails to work & youare incapedwith a few wounds & BF.
Failure, skill fails & you are incaped.
Partial Sucsess, Skill works however you gain wounds & battle fatigue.
Mild Sucsess, Skill works however you have a negitive modifer to you're primaries for a short time.
Sucsess, Skill works, you manage to stay on your feet for 20-30 seconds with a bar at 0.
Great Sucsess, Skill works & you stay on your feet for 20-30 seconds & the HAM bar which hit 0 regens at a higher rateNote: Should at any time in any degree of Sucsess another bar hits 0 then the roll happens again however with a lower chance of sucsess, however is a sucsess is rolled again the timer is not reset & you can only stay on your feet untill that first timer is over. Also although there are more types of sucsesses the chance between Sucsess & Fail should be equal.
5) After you have had to use the skill you have to wait 1hour to use it again. go to 1.
I dare say thatthis suggestion needs a few more tweaks however that would bemytake on how it would be nice for it to be changed. With the new incap timersI think this would be even better as eben when unbuffed you're really not on your arse for long so this would make it like a usful skill, however of course with it's flaws (like it has now).
Edit 1: Formating fixes
Edit 2: Just to add, I think/hope FoW will be addressed in the CU/R/B & that it's unlikly to see a change untill then as it will require quite a bit of work, however this post is how I think it would work well under the current system.

i agree that the insta-DB has got to go. it makes FOW that less effective. however, there still instances where FOW is still useful
example: pvp
it s true that with a DB macro running against you, chances are that FOW may not work in time. in order to maixmize your chances that FOW will succeed, you have to modify your FOW macro like so.
fow
/forceofwill;
/pause .1;
/macro fow
do this and turn off your system messages in the options menu (so you don't get te annoying message). this will maximize your chances that it work.
running this in PVE can help as well. (i have found that only high end mobs insta-DB. could be jus tme though)
try it.

This is a known issue and has been communicated with the devs.
As far as I know Ryutek hasn't gotten any word on if this would be fixed.
you'd have to ask him though

It was communicated to the Devs prior to Ryutek becoming a Corre. Back in May or June of last year. Don't recall anything coming of it though...

Force of Will is awesome when you can get it to work. It saved my life a few times, especially in those close fights where I got incapped and my enemy was a hit or two away from going down.
That insta-DB breaks it though. It is something that needs addressing.

The reason creatures DB instantly is to fix the /youcanneverbedeathblown exploit. For those of you that don't speak fake macro, target self attack repeat macros. See what people do not understand is that EVERYTHING in this game when it comes to what does not work and what does is a trade off. One thing might suck after a patch, but it is only because it had to be done to fix something else. Not every exploit used in the game can be fixed by simply adding a new line of code. In the eyes of the Devs, it is much more important to them to fix the exploit allowing people to escape every deathblow and have Force of will become a luck issue (only work if you are fast enough to get to it) than to have Force of will work but everyone in the game have the ability to get around DB regardless. For instance, fixing the Jedi meditation trick is a matter of the server dropping a memory about something a character is doing; like the server is supposed to remember buffs for some time for you. But for the DB exploit, there is no way to change everyone's ability to cycletargetselfattack and halt the system without changing the way the system works. So the Dev shortcut is to just make all the creatures DB as soon as you incap. Devs love shortcuts. They are much easier than actual fixes.

But Sexwax, not all creatures DB as soon as you die. Just certain ones. If they did, FoW would *never* work. If "insta-DB" was designed to prevent an exploit, as you claim, then it's a poor attempt since it only happens with certain creatures and NPCs.

Yep, been communicated by previous Correspondents and by myself. Still no word back as of this time, but seeing as how the Combat Upgrade is supposed to make so many changes I would not be surprised for it to be addressed then.
