Thread: DoT VK any good?

I've recently looted this DoT VK:

My DoT VK

I know practically nothing about DoT weapons, so i was hpoing for a little advice.

The strength is great, i know, but the potency not so good. Duration is about right for PvP.

Now, i was thinking that it would be best to use this right at the start, when i hit the dizzy / KD. Then switch to a damage VK and carry on. With strength like that, i would have though it would stick within a couple of shots. Only pity is that it hits Action, probably the worst pool for me.

Any thoughts?

Not bad wish i had one!

The str is good, potency is ok, as tkm u hit all the time enyways so it its bound to stick in matter of hits.

Aye would be exellent if it was mind or health, but it is such a good str ut oponent will have a hardtime healing, hitting you and winning i think it will be quite an edge in fights.

The strength of that DOT is on the higher end of anything I've saw.

The bad news: it's an Action poison, due to buffs it won't be as effective in PvP. Don't get me wrong it can have the effect of makign someone panic since it's difficult to tell what stats poisons are applied to at first. Would be great for any unbuffed encounter.

This should be a good PvE weapon though, on mid to high end creatures, land it, then switch to your damage sliced VK's. You will be able to "help" it's effectiveness by using /unarmedLeghit1, it damages the action pool exclusively.

Now you just have to hope for a good repair....(good luck)

Or use the Veteran Reward Anti-Decay Kit (if you are eligible)

I'm not sure the anti-decay would be worth using on this, as once the poison charges have run out then it's just a really crap knuckler.

I would have thought i'd be able to reapir it to at least 500, and that should be enough for 5000 hits...

The Anti-Decay Kit was just an option to keep from worrying about having to repair it. You can always use it until the poison runs out, then destroy the VK and use the Kit on something else. The only problem, of course, is if you find something else you want to use the kit on you would have to destroy the VK prematurely.

Ryutek - are you saying that you can remove the non-decay pup from a weapon? I though that once it was on it was on for good?

Branmar - I looted this one last night at the village. I was with a group of people fending off a sith attack. Most of the group were attacking the pirates and outlaws, but i didn't realise that i didn't get any quest kills for killing thugs, so i took three of them out. I was a tad annoyed when i found out that i have been beating up the baddest baddies for no reason until i biked back and checked for loot. I saw i had looted a knuckler, and am so used to looting crap knucklers that i saw the stats and went 'delete'. Luckily i noticed the DoT before i said "yes2 to the delete.

So, the quick answer is "Sith thugs". They aretroublesome for TKMs to kill as they have 80% kin resist, loads of HAM and are hard to apply any states to.

khargash,

Yes. According to one of Calandryll's posts (located in the Jedi Forum, explaining Lighstabers predominantly, but a comment does apply) the item can be destroyed allowing you to retrieve the Anti-Decay kit.
