Thread: With the CU, will it be feasable to have TKM/(any ranged) for combat?

Just curious as to if being a TKM, will it be best to go all out melee or will my current template of TKM/Master Rifleman be enough to live in PvP?

ok just to clear my thoughts this is a clean slate w/ the curb. play what you like it dosent matter whats feasable what ive leardned from this game is if you try to be uber stack killer of jedi you lose fun just play the proffs you like all of them are gonna be good and they are what you make of them!

Right now I dont think it will be possible to use TKM and any combat prof together effectivly. Cause when you switch to and fro you loose armor and defense.

Unless you find a way to equip armor very fast.

It was my understanding that as long as you arent wearing armor you will still get the natural TK defenses, regardless of weapon equipped. I am probably wrong though.

It does not matter what you have in your hand- Knuckler, sword, pistol, lightning Beam Cannon, survey tool- It DOESN'T matter.


As long as you are NOT wearing any armor your inate TK Defense will still protect you.

Yes thats what I am being told by some , and by others Im being told you will not get the inate TK defense. You will only get ranged/melee

I am telling you now & for the 100th time you will get it. I've told you, Ryutek has told you & other alpha team members have told you. Now listen. TIA will work no matter what weapon you are weilding.

Thanks for the responses, I didn't mean to cause such a stir. My idea was to have a ranged combat profession and then a melee combat profession for when folks get into close range, I'm not looking for a "uber" template.

Sorry got a bit too anoyed with one of the other posters & neglected to reply to the point of the thread & to the gloom & doom posts instead.

Personly I think it will be viable, though it's only low level testing I've found playing a multiple role of brawler & ranged has worked fine, it's probably a bit early to tell over all but at the moment I see it like this, you get a choice. Either you focus or your take versitility, like now theres a time & a place for a melee fighter, & I believe this will always be true, however by having a ranged proffesion as you become more versitile as you arn't as restricted.

At the end of the day it's down to your play style, but yes I believe it will be feasable.

In response to the original point:

I'm looking pretty heavily at returning to BH for the first time in a long time, but only with TKM as the base of the template. Basically I'm just pointing out that I think it will be feasible, and very strong in my opinion, but until we get to test the Elites I really have no clue.

I dont think TKM/MBH will be very good at all. It really depends on how much speed and accuracy really matter.

You get some general speed and accuarcy, but nothing weapon specific. From the looks of it depending on the accuarcy of kodans character builder. You'll have enough accuracy but speed will be a big issue.

going BH 3000 is even more viable for melee guys now, but from what I read on the BH forums if your going to be a BH your going to want to be a MBH.

Personally I only enjoy ranged/TKM templates and thought about picking up MBH as my ranged professtion. Mainly because you get a few types of ranged weapons to use and it provide alot of varitey. With what I see to be effective your either going to want to be all ranged or all melee to be effective at killing Jedi.

MBH/TKM would be awesome , but I think the devs did a good job making a template with very good defense and very good specials have some downsides in speed and weapon certifications.

I am a TKM/ doc 4030/ carb 0400 with some nasty dot carbs right now.


After the CU, i am going TKM/Master smuggler, and loose change in medic probably.


I am just going to have fun with this toon, roleplay and lead my guild. I do have other toons (bh, jedi) to PWN with.


I like the tk/smuggler combo concept for pve and roleplaying.
