I am a master Brawler and Teras Kasi Master and 4344 Rifleman. I did the Geonosian caves for the 2nd time yesterday. I was fully buffed and drunk on Uber Brandy so my mind pool was up around 2500.I was wearing Adv. Comp armor 69% Kinetic Resist. The enhanced Kwi's were a biotch to fight. So were the Droidika's. When I fought them, i spammed my most powerful special (UH-3), without vk's, and barely did damage. A Master Swordsmen with a power hammer, took out the Droidika in 5 hits. The kwi's took like 7 or 8. I wasted more than 1/2 my mind and did one tenth of the damage as the Swordsmen. Is it me or did our profession become weak? I felt useless in the caves. 2 Droidikas were chasing me and I was getting whooped, but thanks to Crono (Dark Master Jedi), he flicked his saber 2 times and wiped them both out. What is a good tactic to survive against the higher ham creatures?

All proffesions have different Advantages and disadvantages.

We are better at some other things, and swords, pike and fencer are better in yet other things. It's all about perspective, situation and equipment, as well as tactics.

The honest answer is that no one character is supposed to be able to single handedly defeat all high end content(with the possible exception of Jedi, but it takes them forever to reach that point during which they are far more vulnerable than the rest of us especally due to the new armor restrictions in pub 9).

Yes there are some professions that basically can right now, but all that is going to change come publish 10. Yes, the majority(but not all!) of the high end content is unsoloable by a tka due to high kinetic resists, but in the same token, the majority of the high end content we are better defended against than any other profession. And, this divide is only going to increase more with publish 10. Things like the geo caves, you'll have to have to have a group to win through, and tka's will havea very specific role to fill that we do exceptionally well at, as will each profession style in the group.

We are anything but a weak profession with the one exception being our offense is limited against high armor and/or kinetic resists, but we gain a lot more to make up for that weakness. Just don't expect to take certain content alone.

Firstly, TKA is by no means weak. Secondly, you overexaggerate much.

Your main problem was not using VKs (with armor piercing) against medium armor targets. That decreased your damage output by 50% right there. Also, the droidekas and especially kwis cannot be taken out in 8 or less hits, that's absurd. TKAs have always been very powerful, in fact they out-dps any other melee profession all the way up to medium armor. (using player-crafted weapons). And there are not Master Jedi.

I'm a master brawler, master TK, master sword.

The geo caves, everything but ackly has high kinetic resists with lower blast resists. A lot of the stuff has MED armor. TK suffers down there, and your nuts for not using your VK. If the thing has med armor and you use your fist you suffer not 1 but 2 50% damage reductions, with your vk your damage output increases by about 1/3 and you only suffer the 1 50% reduction.

Now, the master swordsman with a nice hammer has med ap so he suffers no such penalty plus those things have lower resists to blast than they do kinetic so a master swordsman in most cases down there will way outdamage a TK, its just the way it is. TK was not nerfed, it just does not do as well in some pve situations.

Well, I recently did the geo caves and three of us made it all the way to the end and died when our buffs dropped. However, I did it wearing ubese most of the time. Adv. Comp armor with only 69% kinetic resist is fine, but if you are fighting anything that does kinetic damage, take off the compsoite and put on a suit of high kinetic (you can easily get a suit that hits 75% kinetic) ubese. You get better protection and have far lower encumbrance, which will allow your secondaries to be higher which lets you heal faster. I put on my composite only when I had to fight something not doing kinetic damage. I also wore a PSG. You said you wasted your mind on the Kwis, well when fighting something that takes a while to kill you don't want to see a cost for your specials and wearing ubese rather than adv. composite is going to help. You also want to fight things as few at a time as possible, but don't stay put long enough for things to start to respawn. Making sure you keep something you are fighting intimidated is important, it will help. Personally I think TKA is a great profession and does not have to be helpless in the geo caves, or almost anywhere else for that matter. You might want to run a center of being macro, I don't have much personal experience with this yet but its supposed to help, just make sure you don't have anHAM cost for doing this. That's my two cents, hope it helps.

Yeah, if you weren't using your VKs you should be, they really help.

Galert, you must have used fencer for that though, no? I could tank the hell out of the things in there with full buffs, brandy and canape, and adv. comp armor, but im not doing nearly enough damage to make it worthwhile in there. not with TK anyways. Its funny too because im going for the exact template you have. lol. so it would be nice to hear i could hit that cave with fencer. Im TKM and Master Medic so far. Currently 0/3/0/2 in fencer.

Also if you want to use the VKs without kiling your mind you should also get vaganerian canape...it increases focus and willpower by over 700 for around 8 minutes. Using VKs Armored in Ubese with Imp Shield gen 2 Brandys and a canape It costs me nothing for all my specials my MFW is 1000/500/600 But since I have 78% kinetic ubese and 64% energy imp shield gen my HAM doesnt get killed like it does with composite. especially stun composite...people need to learn how to use their HAM effectively instead instinctively Get highest resist armor, get highest damage VKs and spam UH3.

First off, I must question "Why would you not have VK's equiped?!!!" Not only do they increase your speed, but your damage as well. As for your mind....I am a Zabrak, my mind is my mainweakness. Yet, I have found ways around this. Master musician buffs, canape, and brandy. Pump your self full of 400+ brandy and 500+ canape. Then, have a Moun ready in your hotkey as a last resort. Master dancer buff help as well but I rarely use them. The next thing, get better armor. I use adv. comp. armor with a 80% base. I usually hope for encumb. slice due to my secondary mind restrictions but you can always get effectiveness. And don't ever forget to power boost and FOW. As for armor rating's, our unarmed combo 1 (same damage as 2) cut's right through armor. Perhap's you shouldlook atyour playing skills before you say that we have a weak profession. BTW, at any given time I usually only haveone effective combat profession (TKM) while I grind another misc. profession (anything from BE toMusician).

going to my previous post, i didn't use fencer much, as long as the animals and stuff didn't pound me with a special or something i was fine. No vk's most of time because full set of comp + vk's = massive mind loss. I only use vk's for pvp or stun batons
