Ok, so I have spent the better part of my 3 weeks of playing mastering 4 professions: Marskman, CH, TKA, and Rifleman. I gave up marskman and rifleman to be become a TKA + CH, figuring it would be fun to have pets along for the ride, if only to cure the loneliness one feels while hunting. Anyhow, my point is, I have mastered a few classes, and yes, I could move on and master the rest, but why?

I guess what I should really be asking is what do you guys do to have fun? Is there anything that can be considered a long-term goal in this game, aside from opening a FSS? I still consider myself a newbie in this game, and certainly, the whole crafting aspect eludes me for now. II can imagine that kneeling down with a macro to sample resources is very fun, or that maybe waking up in the morning to start a dance macro after server down-time is surely going to improve my gaming experience. What exactly do people do to have fun? Let me refine the question even more. What could I possibly do that would have long term effects on the game, that would offer me some form of sastisfaction beyond what I have accomplished with my char.

I could build a city... become a politician. Oh, wait, there is a limit on cities/planet (or so I was told), and that limit is full right now, unless you don't mind being the only person on Yavin IV voting for yourself . I wish I could be more happy with the game, I am not. There is nothing to look forward too once you master a profession, even one as cool as TKA. Sure, I can go and do all the badges... then what? I could do all the P.O.I, then what? More of the same. I wish there was something that could be done to alleviate the utter boredom I feel when I play at the moment. If I am not grinding away the xp, I am simply looking at my screen wondering why I am doing any of this in the first place.

I am desperate. I love the graphics of the game, and I truly like the whole concept of it. I like the diversity, and despite everyone's complaints about balance and nerfing, I would rather have to deal with those issues than this one. Point is, I don't feel I can accomplish anything of worth in SWG. Mayhaps you guys would be kind enough to help me along with suggestions. Perhaps I am missing a big picture, or perhaps there is a hell of alot more depth to this game than I have managed to perceive.

Your comments are all welcome, and please be as brutally honest as you can be. If I am to spend more time on this game, I would like it to be for the right reasons, and no reasons are right if they are not true.

Farewell.

If you havent already go find yourself a good PA, make some friends, thats what keeps this game healthy. If you wanna build a city on Yavin IV get a bunch of people who would want to do the same. Its all about community my freind. Try some PvP is you havent, its really intense and fun, plus you have to change your whole style of fighting becuase its completley different from PvE, kinda fun to relearn a bunch of stuff. Thats what I would reccomend doing. BTW if your on Kauri give Onasi a tell Im sure my PA would take ya

Im currently happy doing the POI's but i know what ya mean, as boredom affects me alot too.

how about joining an Role play town? or faction wars? Or taking on an apprentice, and guiding them through tka or just this world alone

Ive been tempted to open a dojo of sorts, now im a hopeless pvp'er, though i like to think im not *grins*

but i would like to start a school or martial arts, possibly in a rp context, where they enter the room (unarmoured or buffed for example) and bow as they enter etc. things like that, not spamming in coronet for guild members etc but just picking em up on the way.

another tip i could possibly give is take a week off the game, enjoy "the real world" *shudders* and then come back full of ideas fresh and hopefully not bored hehe

good luck in finding your path, as this is a great game i think

Novice Brawler, Master TKA
Profesions given up:
Creature Handler ( ok they nerfed me Graul Maulers so yes im a wuss )
Bounty Hunter (most fun prof in this game and i'll probably go back to it! )
Doctor ( Was a nightmare, no please or thankyous most of the time for free wound heals!)
Commando (was fun, but then got boring hehe)

I agree this game has a serious lack off content for higher level players.

There is no real loot system and other than what you have already stated there is not much to do unless you like interacting with others and PVP?

I deleted many toons and started over and have done many classes but am running out of reasons to play myself.

Sorry I am in the same boat as well as many people I know that now just log on once a week to maintain their houses and harvestors. Most are waiting for the space exspansion or WoW to get into open beta.

I think that the "goal" is what drove us to grind and now that were done there is no more goal : {

I agree with Solo, find a good PA. I have been a TKM since July and loved being a MCH, etc. but have not had as much fun as working with a good PA. I still hunt solo the majority of the time, but helping other membersout with quests and missions and our hunting parties make this game interesting. If it weren't for Gamos PA, I would have left a long time ago. Look us up

Well, Thank you for your thoughts and comments. Perhaps joining an truly organized PA would help me, or founding my own. I love the Dojo idea btw, that is the kind of thing I would do myself. As far as PvP goes, I don't know. It seems most often like you own or get own, thats it. I find no pleasure in kicking someone's butt just to satisfy my own egocentricities . Not to say that those who do aren't good players, but rather, they are of a different kind. I have had my share of PvP experiences on many games, and I thought this one would actually result in more content, and less context.

What I mean is that PvP is mostly done for individual reasons. Perhaps if bounty hunters could get missions to hunt down people with a -5000 faction rating in a certain faction, it would be more interesting. Remember those Jawa's you pissed off on Tatooine? Well, they sent hell after you on Naboo .

This is what, I think, is missing in this game. Content. Even PA's, I think, fall short of the what they are meant to be. Not so much because of the players than make them up, but rather, because of the poor options one has when part of a PA. Here's a change which might actually make PvP more interesting... forego the whole "The other guild must declare war on you, then you will be enemied to each other", how about this instead: You declare war, and everyone in the enemy guild is PvPable.

Of course, some people would complain that this might lead to abuse, and I agree. So limit the war to a 1 month period max, and then enforce a truce for an equal time (thus, if you end the war after 3weeks, 2 days, 6 hrs, you cannot declare war again until the same amount of time passes). This "option" can be nulled if the other guild declares war as well, making the war prolongued.

I think this would be very interesting. If you are at war, make harvesters, houses, everything the person owns.. attackable . Oh, I know a bunch of crafters would cry hell and back, but god would it ever make the game interesting if you could level a city. Anyhows, those are just ideas I have about how to go about making the game more interesting.

All your ideas are really cool, but lets face it, the devs have huge stability problems. Its hard enough making the game balanced and viable... making it interesting right now might just be beyong their grasp.

Unfortunately, as I have stated before, I could care less about balance and stability... if the game can actually be interesting. Somewhere down the line, it seems to me, someone just got the concept wrong, and until they fix it, I really don't see how anything I do can give me a sense of accomplishment. But that's just me.

Alright, I am off, trying crafting for the first time, and lord knows I wish to be able to finish it in 4 days, so I can move on to the next class... and the next... and the next... lol. Keep the comments coming, I appreciate your input.

I agree, I think, with you post above. I think that there is too much talk of balance and stability (not hardware stability). With the setup that we have with the number of professions, I don't think the Devs can satisfy the majority no matter what they do. Everyone should be best at something but not everything.

PA's are pretty much what you make of them. It is hard with multiple time zones to get everyone together. It is also somewhat of a membership/rules problem in how to handle a non-aligned PA that has factioned members, some overt. Gladly we have great leadership and are building a city with some other PA friends.

There could be a lot more to a PA, but I don't know if that is good thing atm. There are already "PA Wars" between factioned PAs and even faction based cities. For this game, I think that is all that can be handled. How can you have a PA war when you have rebs and imps on both sides and they have to fight each other and look out for opposite factioned players (outside of either PA and NPCs also)at the same time? Imp fighting Imp?

There is quite a bit on content if one doesn't just take a vehicle to a POI then off the the next, etc. I understand the reason for vehicles but would still rather run. Running is more interesting and you see and fight more and sometimes die more, where you would just have outrun it/them on your bike or something. This is a game, you and it are not really going anywhere, so what is the rush?

The main thing wrong with the content as I see it is the dungons/caves/labs/etc. being static in location and the fact that all of the better loot spots can be camped and AFK macroed or 3rd party "botted". This disrupts the economy and causes stratificaton.Although there will always be haves and have nots, the dispairty is usually not so pronounced. In another game I played, everyone got kicked from the dungon after a certain period of time. Yes you could fight your way back in, but you could not camp it. Also, spawn spots were more dynamic in their location and mobs that spawned. At random intervals a fairly powerful agro creture would spawn making the area not able to be camped.

Since I got master I've used the KD and Dizzy to mainly help out other professions that I want to master. Don't think I'd drop Tera Kasi for anything, from force of will to meditation of wounds... IT ROCKS

I was almost done with this game, until I found TKA, it changes a person :}

Anyhow, if you are on intrepid ... come and contact killgore' in game, I will teach you some cool things, and ...

go to krayt hunts, NS, and geolabs .. these are high level caves, lot of fun and a challenge ..

PvP I hated, now I love it, I duel all the time and everything ... I have an alt I am making a master chef / BE for income, and crafting can be OK ( as an alt ) ... but keep it up, the game has its down time...

One big mistake is soloing all the time, we use voice comms to talk .. .if you wanna come to intrepid, we would take a serious player, we can usually do profs in 36-48 hours avg... we have a 1.5 million doller bet with a guildy he cant master carbineer in 24 hours ...

Things like this make game fun ... just some thoughts

on intrepid I am killgore'

I'm so happy with TKA I'm splitting other points to help out guildmates or new players.
have probably harvested meat into the 100k s.
have taken some fresh players to different POI's and kind of played bodyguard with stims and kicks.

man, i hear ppl saying they are bored and it kills me, i am stuck studying and reading boards and all i think about is playing, granted i am grinding BH asap to get back to tkm... anyway the guy that is bored, if you already have some nice merek's, toxic merek battlelords or a deaths head, i would hunt night sisters, or group for the elders' hehe good luck, or krayts, or hunt some crystals, or take on fencer or something to add to tk's defense. heck you might like swordsman or fencer, keep your tk defense and it will help you with many other proffessions.

Boredom is only cuz you limit your possibilities of what you can do.

Have you done *every* quest and gotten *every* quest item?

Have you joined a city and helped it grow?

Have you joined a PA and helped it grow?

Have you mentored a newbie and helped them achieve a level where they can play on their own?

Have you PvPd and made a name for youself as someone to be feared?

There are tons of other things to do besides grind professions. I think people get bored cuz they limit themselves to just "achieving" that next skill box, without really looking around to see what the game has to offer. Some of the ones who do are still bored, though, cuz the other parts *don't* involve grinding the next skill box.

The game is so much more than your skill boxes. Just like other MMOs are so much more than just your character level. If you feel it's worth it, explore, do something original, decorate a house, publish a newsletter, whatever. Just make the game your own, rather than letting the skill grind own you.
