Holo asks "why oh why is everyone jumping to pistoleer?"

It sure would be nice to have a dev team that actually knew what they were doing and how it was going to effect the game BEFORE they did it.

They have made every profession pale in comparision to the pistoleer with their nerfs and the one remaining profession that stands a miniscule chance of comapring to them (the TKA) is about to be ruined with the PS/KD nerf.

But the fact that he guy is so blind to the facts that he has to ask "why" is laughable, and yes, everyone is laughing AT him, except for the pistoleers who are cringing right about now.

that's funny. even *I* know the reason pistoleer is so popular, and i'm not even a game designer!

Yes I too was amazed when i saw that post..below is what I replied to it

Um...this is a joke post right? I mean seriously you had to ask why? Well, let's see, maybe becasue

1. You nerfed the hell outa the melee classes..in particular the TKA into oblivion...

2. You yourself said don't bring a knife to a gun fight (so they all ran out and picked up a gun)

3. Its the only class which can KD for next to no HAM cost (compared to all other KD classes)

4. In any game the "24 hour non-stop power gamers" are ALWAYS going to play what is considered "THE" class/profession and right now the pistoleer IS that profession. (or maybe just the skills from pistoleer)

Seemed pretty obvious to me and i have only played the game for 2 months. Yet you helped design the game?

Hehe, Pistols are the sole cause for the downfall and mutilation of the teras kasi order.

Even though I don't even play this game any more--just checking in out of curiosity--I've got to say: that post of Holo's more or less sums up the dev's system-wide understanding of their own game. Not really surprising, considering the totally unbalanced nerfs/changes thathavetaken placein recent weeks. However, the response is 'telling' nevertheless.

I'm sure that, by now, Holo is wishing he never took it upon himself to respond to anything on these boards. Every response he gives just makes SOE look bad.

I don't think we should tell them.... every time we tell them what is wrong with another class, they nerf us to balance it '-_-

I believe he's just confirmed what most of us have suspected. They have absolutely no idea **edit** they're doing. It's totallypathetic.

That comment totally surprised me as well. Not that there were many pistoleers but that a DEV asked us why this is happening. That was sad to me.

I'll tell you that our take as far as TKAs go is that you have some balance issues, but overall you are overpowered, not under. Can you explain to me why that is incorrect? What are you measuring against, exactly. (Pistoleers in PvP? PvE when compared against a comparably advanced carbineer or pikeman? What, exactly, are you using as your baseline?)

I don't play a TKA but I must admit here that this question was somewhat sad. I play a Fencer (we have our own problems) and his statement that TKA are overpowered made me just as annoyed as the knife to a gunfight comment. Anybody with a tiny bit of a clue should know that people will naturally gravitate to the most powerful professions. Are his statistics showing that TKA has been showing a massive increase in players?

I think Microsoft Solitaire is covering the window on his desktop that displays information on the state of anything in SWG.
