It all depends on what you want.
Do you want a ranged combat style that gives you some ranged attacks, but not powerful ones, but still enhances your TKA? Go with pistoleer. I got pistoleer mostly for the defenses, but it's really nice to pull out a gun when I need to.
Or, do you want a really powerful ranged combat style that won't really enhance TKA itself, but is simply available as an alternate and seperate way of fighting? If so, get rifleman.
The other thing to remember is that with pistoleer you can pick and choose skills to enhance your character, but with rifleman you pretty much have to master the profession for it to be very effective.

Guys, right now I'm a Master Medic, Novice Teras Kasi. I am wanting a good ranged counterpart to Teras Kasi just for the sake of having it and being a little more versatile. My play style is definitely that of solo/pve. I can't decide between Pistoleer or Rifleman, though, and was wondering if anyone had any experience/input to this. Pistoleer seems to have an awesome set of defenses, but rifleman seems to be everyone's choice.

If you plan on getting something to go with pistoleer like BH pistols or smugglers pistols then Pistoleer is ok. If you want to or only have the skill points available to only master one then go with Rifleman for sure.

Yeah rifleman compliments TKM extremely well. They were almost made for eachother it seems

If it doesn't matter to you, go for Rifleman. But remember, pistols are much sexier

I currently have TKM and I am working up the Pistols tree. This has worked well for me so far.

Pistoleer is much like fencer, not a lot of damage output, but very good defenses. If you combine it with the smuggler pistols line, or the BH pistols line, you'll have a very solid ranged profession.
Rifleman is much like swordsman in the sense that is has the highest damage output of the ranged professions. The thing to remember with rifleman is that if you start, you pretty much have to master it in order to see the full benefit.
You should do just fine as a solo pve'r with both templates. Pistols may not allow you to contend with the higher end NPC's like NS Elders and such like rifleman can, but they are still a great compliment to Teras Kasi

Rifles.
Good mix of damage types. The all important mind damage in PvP. Advanced Strafe is great for quickly taking down entire squads of stormtroopers (or any ranged NPC group). Conceal shot is occasionally extremely useful for taking down high kinetic resist, high HAM mobs safely. Rifles get lots of defenseand rifle + TKM will place you near the ranged and melee defense caps.

Lol - I forgot to mention that I am also doing the smuggler tree.
So thats: TKM - Pistoleer and Smuggler with 3 points to spare and a nice combination of defense mods..
