Thread: Which trees are best to train first?

Just like the title says, I'm looking to find out which trees to pursue first. I was thinking of going 0044 first and then working up the other two. I have already trained 0012 so is this a good course of action, or are the other trees better for preliminary grinding? Thanks in advance for your help.

I trained power first (dmg and speed), then balance and meditate at same time. It really depends on your preference though.

I got power last. Most of power just adds little increments to speed and damage without anything major. Balance and meditation are the most dramatic...

When you get powerboost, you have an instant free buff to all pools. When you master meditation, you can use force of will (which helps me out all the time) and more importantly, you can HEAL WOUNDS. You meditate, and every few seconds you heal around 20 points of wounds. It changes the whole game for you.

after grinding and dropping tka 3 times, the best way for a speedy grind is as follows...

using speed sliced vks, get to 002x (combat exp chain helps, get it whenever you can)

hit 012x, then up to 013x

at this point, you will hit 1/sec with a 2.2 set of damage sliced vks.

the meditate line is nice, but does nothing for your ability to deal damage or defend against it, so at this point, i recommend going to 043x, finish the power chain at 044x, and then do the meditate chain in one lump.

for grinding, the speed and damage is your best bet to speed along the grind, but that initial kd attack will allow you to do a lot more damage for a hit or two.

level 4 in the power chain is nice, but not as nice as a dizzy/kd, so work that next.

meditate/powerboost, and especially box for of meditation is a wonderful chain, but it doesn't help one bit in the grind. a bit of down time each night healing wounds and bf will be needed, but not a big deal. powerboost is nice, and i use it nightly, but your best friends in this classes grind are buffs.

spend the money, doc buffs for 6-10k will gain you 2-3 boxes of tka in one session, if you are effective.

use brandy, and canape to ease the mind costs, and spam those specials.

dantooine used to be good for grinding, the voritors are great exp, and quenkers as well. with current spawn rates tho, the best grind location is mos espa. stormies by the western shuttleport pop regularly, and make great fp as well as grindage material. no missions or lairs to hassle with, just a steady flow of opponents.

Ubese armor is great for the grind, or nice comp, if you follow my recommendation to grind while buffed. Wookiee armor works well with an imperial design psg on stormies, quenkers or voritors. Plan on at least 1 psg per session minimum if you are a wookiee, and only really necessary if fighting stormies. I carry 3-4 at all times to make surei get a full run of secondary stat resists before fighting in espa, never know when you will be ganked by imps.

Using this technique, my last grind up tka took me 3 nights, 2-3 hours per night, and netted me 12.5k faction points.

not a bad way to go.

I'm not master yet, but I only wear composite boots, bracers and gloves it's very old so it dosent go by this new UBER protection around the 80's but it does have lower encumbrence, but I do have a semi-full set of the new stuff in my PA. but back to the topic..

Savage quenkers are great, just get buffed and brandy and anything else you can do, I went up power first, then intermediate balance (for knockdown) now I'm in advance meditation planning to finish and return to balance. Just grind like crazy, and stay in a solo group for more spawns per lair and extra xp (not much, but it'll stack and help it's share in the long run). Not to mention the nice money you make on the side. I got to TK 2142 in no time (2 weeks) just by myself. It's easy and fun.

I agree on the armor + enhance + brandy + speed-sliced VK + savage quenkers (Dantooine). The money is fantastic--and I actually went there at Unarmed III. But to answer the question--I'd recommend Balance I (for Knockdown1) as it dramatically lowers your kill-time on a quenker after you KD1 it then slap a few Hit2's on it for double damage. By the time it gets up it's almost dead anyway. Then go up Power. Meditation was great, really, and getting up the rest of Balance was nice for the mitigation, but Power is more than just little increments of damage--it's +15 unarmed speed every level--meaning you swing incredibly faster each level. At Power IV you are smashing things hard and also at the speed cap for almost every move. That means your Knockdown is even more powerful, because you get an extra Hit2 in there. At Power IV I would throw KD1 + UH2 x5, and at least 4 would hit before it got up. I could hit for up to 2500 on a fallen quenker with a 191 damage VK. Meditation on the other hand was nice, but not game changing for me. Being able to meditate away my wounds at the end of the day was my favorite part, really. Power Boost is great, but if you're trying to grind out the levels you should be buffed already. Force of Will was great also--but if you're getting incapped on savage quenkers, you should stop spamming BodyShot1 and just go back to random pools, and try NOT to aggro the graul lair.

I did 0-0-2-2 first (I had a lot of saved Combat XP though), then went to 0-1-3-2, then 2-1-3-3, then finished Meditation first for the healing abilities.

It really all comes down to what you really want out of your character. If I got in a bind anywhere I had my Pistol to fall back on, or if I was severely outmatched I could just Feign Death, so I never really worried about which tree I did first.

I trained TKS like this:

Intermediate Balance (For KD)

Up the whole Meditative Tree (Wound healing, Power boosting, and curing poison/desease)

Up the Power Tree

Finished with balance tree.

The precission tree of course takes combat xp.

Last night I was 0/0/3/3 in TKA. (I carried over alot of Combat into TKA).

I got some +2000 buffs with 3 hour duration in Coronet and Jumped to Dant.

Wearing Ubese helm and Jacket only...something like 70% I think.

Nothing special with my VK's either... 2.2's with 186max damage.

I joined a solo group and began pulling the first Savage Quenker or Hurrton Stalker missions I could in the same direction.

I pulled over a million xp in 3 hours.

I was halfway to power 4 when I started... got trained in Power 4 after taking two missions....

And when my buffs ran out... I had 841k Unarmed XP to spend.

And yes...I did cherry pick a heck of alot of other missions. All told I think I took out 20-25 lairs. Probably less that half of which were "mine".

I guess my point is... it doesn't really matter what you train first... you can make so much xp so fast if you are buffed + brandy + stim b's....picking a "wrong" box to train first is only going to set you back a half an hour.

It's not like picking Meditation 1 as your first box is going to gimp your toon permanently. Just go clear two more quenker missions and train something else.

i did TKM like this

do power tech 1...then balance 1...medi 2(for boost)...then do both power and balance trees...and finish meditation tree last (healing your self is a great tool but dont rush it before the TK power and speed and FOW is good if it works needs to let us do it more then once an hour)..and so combat as it fills

To do TKA fast....if you have some medic skills too (Master Doc here )
Get buffs, go to Jinda caves on Endor...Target mobs, Spam Spinattack1, until Power3 where you get spinattack2.
Remember to loot everything you kill

The medic skills are useful cos the jinda DO hit hard for little furballs...How they manage a head hit is beyond me..

You'll need quite a few stims and keep a close eye on your health just be ready to clear the combat queue and heal yourself.

The first time I did TKA it took me 3 weeks...

This second time, 9 hours, and I started from scratch again as i'd used my unarmed helping a friend get app .
With the Jinda cave during UK daytime when the americans are asleep , then going to dant or Yavin and doing quenker/kliknik missions when the caves filled with others, i managed in about 9 hours..

Now I am a happy TKA/Doc again..though Swordsman was pretty funky too...wanna buy a scythe?
