Thread: strength stat for TKA
OK... I've been told by more than a few that the strength stat of a player affects melee damage.
EXCEPT that I've never seen any documentation of this in the stat descriptions, AND I've made a test character who seems to do asa much dmg at str 850 as my regular str 450.
Am I blind? or are my test results correct? I'd hate to find out that my racial cap on str was keeping my damage sub-par.
thanks.
Its like this:
First stat (Health/Action/Mind):
Pool points
Second stat (Strength/Quickness/Focus):
Move cost (higher= lower cost)
Third stat (Constitution/Stamina/Willpower):
Regen rate of pool
Hope it helps ![]()
thanks, y'all... I know the stats work as pool, use, and regen, but I've run into SEVERAL people who were ABSOLUTELY convinced that higher strength = higher damage. like I said, I tested a wook with max str stat and found no difference, but the people ingame I talked to were so adamant in their insistence of this +str = +dmg, that I wanted to ask here, on the forums.
glad to know I can still do basic math. y'know, where the combat log says you do x dmg, and you compare that value to y dmg and find that x = y? still don't know how to convice these deluded folks, tho.

100% Correct. This is not Diablo. Str means nothing to damage. Just lets you deal more out without incaping yourself.
My personal Experience tells me that strength DOES have an effect on Damamge, BUT its an insignificant amount.
Definatly effects HAM cost of Specials though.
My natural str is 750. I still do the same damage when strength is buffed to 1800.
It strength had an effect on damage I can only imagine I would notice it with the
increase.
Has anyone checked to see for certain that natural strength doesn't have an effect on
damage?

Do the second stats (strength/quickness/focus) only affect special move cost, or do they affect how much damage you take from being attacked as well? Higher = less damage from a creature that's biting you for example.
Interesting thought. Ive never noticed an increase in damamge through Buffed up stats. the increase I noticed was from playing with stat mitigation. But once again it was a miniscule diference.
The reason many have this belief is it seems to be common sense. If I get hit by someone stronger, it should do more damage. Plus add into the fact that almost EVER game out there modifies damage based on strength.
Thus it isa bit counter-intuitive to beleive otherwise.
Dark side clouds all.....
Strength has ZERO bearing on how much dmg you do. In fact NONE of the stats have ANY bearing on how much damage you do regardless of weapons or skill.
Trandosians have race given skill mods to Unarmed dmg, toughness. A couple other brawler/unarmed that I can't remember right now. But that's why a trandosian does do more dmg, has nothing to do with his strength stat.
Unarmed Damage mod is what determines how much dmg you do.
*Stats Explained*
Everyone has 3 "primary" stats... Health, Action, Mind.
Each of these "primary" stats have 2 "secondary" stats that affect them directly.
