I've been approached by chefs and armorsmiths to sell them schematics for trim, synth cloth, etc. so they coulddo their own factory run. With some I would provide the resources. With others, they provide the resources.
I'd like to hear opinions on this.Is it good for the tailor profession or bad? or does it really matter?
Also, I'm curious about how I would price these schematics if I do decide to go ahead and sell them.
Thanks for your input.

This is not one of my favourite parts of tailoring, but I will usually comply if approached politely as I know a lot of the master tailors are busy with other things. The other day I was offered 150k for a trim schematic, with me providing the resources for 40 crates. To be honest, as long as the offer is reasonable and the client polite, I will accept. 150k is about maximum on what would be paid though- he was pretty desperate to find a tailor.
Regarding price, I just ask the client to be fair, and see what he/she offers.
As to whether or not it's good for the tailoring proffession, there are arguments both ways, but said client bought from my vendors whilst waiting, so turned out pretty good for me

I've been approached only a couple times for schematics, usually people just want to buy the finished crates. I keep my vendor well stocked with components...mostly for my own use but they are there for anyone who want to buy them. I have given a schematic or two to guildies, but thats usually only if my factories are already doing some other run.
I dont see any problem with it personally, its not like Chefs or Armorsmiths are in direct competition with me. Heck, because my vendor is alway stocked with components I even get a few tailors coming by to buy stuff.
So really it comes down to a personal choice. Are you prepared to supply the chef yourself or would you rather they do it themselves? They usually want a full run of 1000 units at a time 40 crates, which takes about 33 hours and 20ish minutes.

The only schematics i am willing to make for others is wookie armour padding, because im repetedly approached with claims that no one makes any. Schematics is the best im willing to do on armour padding however.
Any other Schematics i flat out refuse, i dont make the items myself, but many tailors do stock trim/synth/rf runs and id rather that people went to these tailors (one is 300m from my house so i usually give people who want sub components his wp)

If they provide their own resources, I have no problem with it. Otherwise...

I charge cpc (credits per component)
- 250cpc for pre made crated components (other than armor padding which i charge 500cpc)
- 200cpu for schematics where i provide resources
- 150cpu for components where they provide resources but need the use of my factory.
- 100cpu for just the schematic and them providing the resources in advance to make it
1 and 4 are my preferred methods but im willing to work with anyone as long as i have the factory space available.

Its really up to you and there is nothing wrong with either decision. I personally take a different approach. I do a huge amount of mining for my guild and for my businesses soI usually have a lot of resources around. I also have a combat alt who does all the creature harvesting and that alt often needs chef's foods like brandy. Since I have so many resources and I need food anyway I usually make runs of trim for certain chefs (or possibly cloth for an armorsmith, but it is rare) and in return I trade a factory run for a case or two of food or a nice set of armor. That keeps their factories clear (I have lots of factories so I don't worry about it), gives them something they can use quickly, keeps my resource storage reasonable and gets me items I need for a very nice price.

Yeah this one can be a bit of a pain, I have ask this very same question twice last year and got very little responce
What I decided to do was a simple price plan. I sell a crate of 25 items of what every component they want for 25K, thats with me providing the resources. All so far seem very happy with this.
If they provide the resources and just want me to create the schem and use my factory I charge them 15K for a crate of 25 items.
If they provide the resources and use thier own factory and just want me to produce the schematic for them I charge 3K, to be honest it only takes us tailors 30 seconds to do this work then they are gone, very easy quick 3K
Hope this gives you some sort of help.

I always find that it's only serious armoursmiths/chefs who come to you looking for these schematics. If the armoursmith/chef is a small timemerchant then they will tend to buy off peoples vendors. The is when they have a large production to deal with and buying off vendors simply doesn't give them the mass of tailor goods they need. So if you play your cards right and do a good job providing them with their requests and you may find yourself affiliated to a big armour producer or master chef.
If approached by someone who needs me to produce batches for them in my factory I will direct them to the nearest vendor I know of that deals with crates of tailor goods. If however they have their own factory and resources and just require the schematic then I will gladly do it for them. I charge 20k per schematic that they ask for which often makes for a tidy income as they may want up to a dozen doing at a time. Remember that we tailors are very poor and any bigtime armoursmith or chefwill have more than enough cash to fork out on synth cloth, rfp's, trimand padded armour segments.

i hate crating components and am always quite happy when a chef brings me the resources and all i have to do is spend 2 seconds whipping out a schematic for them! makes my life very easy!
I have one chef that i regularly run the trim for in my factory, and in return i get free brandy and ahrisa for myself and my husband.
all in all works fine for me

I stopped selling schematics and crates after I mastered, but lately I've been making runs of trim/SC/RFP (especially full runs of trim) and putting them on a vendor named "tailor resources". the crates aren't that expensive (4k for SC and 5k for RFP/trim, 10% "packaging fee" for full runs of trim), and I figured that if they sell that's fine, and if they don't I can use them up.
as I told some guy the other day, I don't sell schematics unless there's a heavy labor fee involved since my vendors keep me busy

I find that the pay is lousy for components, c/p/u wise, compared to what can be charged for tailored goods. I am not a big fan of mining, so I generally don't find it worth it to mine large amounts of resources for low-profit-margin goods. That's just a "lifestyle choice".
I'm willing to make schematics, if it's not too much hassle (the person has to come to me) AND when there is a perk involved. A perk isn't just cash - I can make my own cash. Making a schematic is "worth it" to me if I get first dibbs on the end product, usually brandy. It saves me TIME in finding brandy, and time is more precious than credits (since I've become a true "casual player", logging on 2-3 nights a week for approximately 2-3 hours and slightly more on the weekend).
