Thread: Cloaked Dress really should be a robe with undergarments allowed

I hesitate to mention this when there are still so many bugs to squish - but I noticed this when recently going thru some movie pictures trying to see exactly how close we can actually get to the character costumes.

Shouldn't the cloaked dress be a robe instead of a dress? It needs to be able to be equipped with a longsleeve shirt underneath (and personally - I think it makes it look a lot better) and also technically pants - but those really don't show much, not as big a deal.

I disagree on the Cloaked Dress, because it is a Dress, and therefore doesn't really need a shirt underneath. I wouldn't mind see a similar looking Robe though, Sleeveless Robe or some such thing. However, there are a whole BUNCH of clothes that need recategorizing:

  • Spec-Ops Duster, Gunman's Duster, and Cloaks should be in the same category, not 3 different ones.

  • Wookiee clothes should be in the Wookiee category.

  • Long gloves should be in gloves, not Misc.

  • Skirts should be in Skirts, not Misc.

  • Smocks, Robes, and other male "dresses" should be in robes, not dresses.

I know I'm forgetting some, but I don't have the game running, can't think of any more. Also, all clothing descriptions need to include racial/gender limitations.I'll stop there, I think I'm getting a bit off track

Well if you wanted to be true to the movie the cloaked dress is a robe over a long smockish type shirtand pants, it's not a dress. It would be nice to make it either way.

I'm thinking they probably sorted them ingame by how they behaved - and what slots they covered.

I absolutely agree that some things should be in other categories - indeed, on the website - that's the way I sorted mine.

I mean - an exotic leotard is considered in dresses? Uhhh, no - I stuck it in with jumpsuits.

My point was simply after having found it as an outfit in a movie still - I'd like to be able to recreate that look ingame. All it would take is being able to equip a shirt underneath it. While true that original outfit did have pants - I think that would be close enough for government work - I only saw one pic of it that even showed the pants fulllength.

I'm thinking that's the overall defining characteristic between a robe and dress ingame categories, robes can have things under them - dresses can't.

My main problem is that you can't equip anything under dresses. I've worn dresses with undershirts a lot, why can't my character do it? lol

I agree Songe. The layering is probably one of their biggest headaches - but also what makes the SWG clothing system so customizeable and unique - in that area they did an outstanding job and really raised the bar for the genre.
