Thread: Anyone else have this problem? Disappearing clothes?

So sometimes when I have a customer come to my shop and ask me to make them some clothes i'll trade it to them or put it on my vendor. After the trade, 5 minutes pass by and I get a tell stating that their clothes have disappeared from their inventory and off their backs. And of course I get the usual panic and sometimes accusations of "stealing" their clothes and them wanting their money back. (I always find the accusations very funny... yeah... because I have the ability to steal clothes form your inventory... yeah right). So after calming them down I simply explain to them to disconnect and and relog... They do and all is back to normal... and I dont get an apology from the accusers... no biggie.

So does this happen to other tailors after trading clothes or having someone buy them off your vendor? I think this makes us look completely terrible in front of our customers. I have yet to lose one from this problem but still... any suggestions?

It's never happened to me as a tailor, but it happened to me once as a customer long, long ago. Only one item disappeared, and relogging fixed it. Dunno what happened, but I think it was right after I crossed a server boundary…

Its all server boundries. So as I hit the accept button, it's very common for me to explain "They may 'poof' as you travel from here and logging will bring them back. Once in a great while it takes the server down to make them reappear."

The best part is when they are wearing them (visible on my monitor) and explaining they are gone. It's so hard to convince them they have clothes on.

Here's something I posted a long time ago:

My theory is it has something to do with being on a "server boundary". It's never happened to me since I've moved, and I definitely miss it! lol, it made for a lot of laughs. My advice: have fun with it, don't take it so seriously.

happens to me all the time. My customers always do the same thing, put on their new clothes and run up to anchorhead - by the time they get there - they are naked - not even wearing undies. I explain to them they need to relog and most are totally fine with it - its very rare to get accused of scamming them

I've had my own clothes vanish on me, I was putting stuff on to stop being naked and it was all vanishing as I left my house. I actually killed Plasma thieves in my underwear forabout anhour before I realised there was something wrong (I use first person perspective so I wasn't actually seeing my char.)

I found logging out and back in solved the problem, although some of my friends really wish they could have seen me hunting thieves in my undies.

It's something I've heard about for a long time, but only recently actually encountered a couple times. For me, the main elements seem to be:

1. often triggered by taking something off the floor/display in my house, picking it up, and selling/transferring it.
2. almost always fixed by customer relogging.
