Thread: Question Regarding Colors

Hey, a while back Stoli made a bunch of uniforms for our Militia in Mos Coran. We are in need of more and nobody has seen or heard from him in a long long time so I was using some of my skill points to get enough Tailor to make the uniforms myself. I'm currently 0401 which was enough to get the particular clothing items we wanted. The problem is I can't seem to get anywhere close to the blue color that he did. If I keep going up the last branch, will I continue to get more and more colors available to me? These were a really dark blue and I can't seem to duplicate it yet. Didn't know if that was it or something changed in the game and they can't be made "that" blue anymore. Thanks.

The best, most popular blue shades aren't available until Master Tailor.

Why not find a real tailor and simply pay them for the work? I guess it sounds cheaper or easier to macro up and do it yourself, but a professional with actual tailoring experience will be able to match what you have exactly, will mostly likely do a very good job, and will be simpler than trying to do it yourself.

I'll admit it's a little frustrating to see someone come in here and post about grinding up to make what they want just so they don't have to deal with a real tailor. I know you didn't mean it this way so I'm not trying to criticize you personally, but it does seem just a little condescending to talk in our board about the profession that we care about as if it's a throwaway thing you're grinding temporarily for the sake of convenience.

I'm sure there are tailors on your server who would be able to do this quickly and accurately, and would love getting a contract to provide your uniforms now and in the future. It is, after all, their in-game job.

I don't see anything wrong with someonespending skill points to try and get something they want. If you've ever purchased novice medic just so you can use stims or novice merchant just so you can get a humanoid merchant, then you're guilty of the same.

There's a nice blue at tailoring 4. It's not quite as dark as the deepest blue, but it's a nice sapphire blue. It's one of my favorite colors, actually. It's not as dark as the royal blue you get later, but it's still very nice and might serve your purpose.

Donnah,

Well, the main reason for doing it myself is that I have actually contacted several tailors on this server and it has become a hassle. First, finding a tailor that isn't a holo tailor and still interested in the craft is a bit of a challenge. I've searched for weeks for Tailor Vendors on different planets, and using the Search command. Finding a vendor that has any actual product on it is a challenge as most of the time I'd fly my swoop a few thousand meters to find an empty vendor. But occaisionally would find product that would list the Tailors name on it. Then I'd send off a round of emails to the tailors, and my most common response was "No Reply at All". The second most common response was "I've dropped the skill". Others have been slow to respond or can't get with me to look at the clothes to match because they are too busy. In the rare occassion I actually found a toon online they were usually afk which meant they were crafting in macro mode. As soon as the reign of Sony's Holo Terror ends, then maybe the market will balance. The entire last few months has been complete hell on the economy since a vast proportion of players are holo grinding, emptying the game of true concerned master artisans, and filling it with quick, fly by night vendors that rarely are stocked.

As I have been in this guild since the third week of the game or so, and plan on continuing in my leadership role of the guild for probably another year, I personnally thought that I'd learn the skill and begin producing the items myself. I had the room in the point area, and even put up a clothing vendor to actively produce clothing for the guildies and other people that pass through our town since we havn't had a tailor for months. I am not holo grinding this. I am actively participating in the global economy, though my initial reason for entering into this was to produce the initial militia uniforms once proudly worn by our cities militia. It seems to me, that since our guild will most likely be around for a long long time, that instead of having to go through this painfuland elongated process every few months, I might as well do it myself. I have enough room for 0404 with maybe 2 more points left over. Hopefully this is enough to provide and maintain a beginners clothing vendor in Mos Coran for new members seeking some basic things.

I'm sorry that you don't consider me a real tailor, since I'll only be a little more than 1/2 a tailor. I don't see how this comes across as condescending when I'm trying to learn a part of a profession and sell my wares as most of you are trying to do. Though I do not have the skill points on this toon to master this profession, I will still produce quality products in certain lines that I will sell at a fair price, as well as discounted for city residents. As far as the temporary status, nowhere in my post did I state it was a temporary thing or that I didn't care about it. I'm enjoying it, and the creativity that go with it. It is actually fun to craft the clothing and try to come up with different color combinations. It is a lot more fun being creative than grinding through some combat profession.

No one contacted me! If you want to spend your extra skillpoints tailoring, that is up to you. After all, tailoring is a lot of fun! If you just want to have more uniforms then this seems like a waste of time and effort. If you contact me (either Momoko or Eimi) or several of the other tailors I know I (or they) can have it finished for you quickly and efficiently. Depending on how complicated the uniform is, howbusy we are and how manyare neededit will take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two (because of factory time).

Well, I assumed that you were doing tailor not because you were interested in it at all, but just to make those outfits and then drop it all. And if that's mistaken then I'm sorry. But that is what your original post sounded like, that you were only doing it because you needed that work done. I'm not in any way trying to say that dabblers in a class don't count as members of that profession.

But with macro grinding rampant across all servers, I've had one too many customers balk at things I think are entirely reasonable (like charging for schematics) and just tell me they'll grind up themselves for what they want then drop it. So it's kind of a pet peeve of mine.

Plus I'm getting really cranky and cynical lately about tailoring, because of the complete lack of bugfixes and the way the devs seem to ignore the things we actually want and asked for. And the lack of respect tailors get from some customers (I seem to be getting a lot of those "why do you charge so much when clothes are useless?" jerks lately for some reason). I'm starting to think seriously about leaving tailoring (which for me would mean leaving the game), which is upsetting and something I thought I wouldn't do for years. So it's probably best if everyone just completely ignores me for awhile...
