Hello SWG-Tailor-World!
I think every Tailor got this problem in the past. You are crafting an item and how ever you got no sockets inthe clothes and wondering. Well, I think I have found out some intresting about that and we all should check this out together and give feedback to Sony to have them make a Fix for that bug. I am Master Tailor since one year and first I didn't got this problem, but I think that maybe cause when I started as a Master Tailor I was also a Master Artisan and so this problem may not occur for a while to me.
So here is my theory:
I discovered that I sometimes got NO Sockets on my crafted clothes. Even if I craft 10, 20, 30 times or what ever the same item. It was hard to find out cause this problem doesn't occur everyday or everytime. But when it appears I can't craft Artisan-Items with sockets for the whole day. It only happens to myself and only to Clothes from the Artisan-tree.A Master Artisan who was testing for me, got the same item (Hide Boots) at the same time with 2, 3 and 4 sockets, but me as a Master Tailor not!
I know when it happens, it only happens to Clothes that where in the Artisan-Skilltreeboxes. I again tested this out today, when I got the zero-socket problem. Every Artisan-Clothes had 0 Sockets, all Tailor-Clothes got a minimum of 1 Socket andthe averrage number of sockets was smaller then normal (mostly 1 Sockets). Relogin, disconnection, exiting doesn't help me, I tried that everytime. What we now must test is when did that happen, not only the time and day is needed, maybe there are other things that have inflounce on that. Please check against my theory when you got the zero-sockets problem and write your feedback here! Maybe our Tailor-Corespondet can help us then with some direct questions to SOE for fixing this issue asap.

Socketing of Artisan items is controlled by artisan, not tailor, assembly mods. Those are found in the domestic arts AND engineering lines of artisan. Therefore, you must have both the engineering line and the domestic arts line to get sockets on artisan items. This is not a bug, but rather is working as expected according to where the skill mods are located.

...like NJ said....plus......Even if you have Master Artisan and Master Tailor, you still have a chance of getting zero sockets. I had two zero socket items, both from the tailor trees, while filling the bazaar yesterday.
You're not alone, it's been annoying all of us for a very long time.

Yup. I miss the days of always 3 or 4 sockets. ::sigh::
Even with Master Artisan, Master Tailor, FS Assembly, +15 Clothing Tools, and a +44.something crafting station, the sockets are still fairly random. Maybe I should see about starting an Assembly bonus city and calling it Tailorville.

I know that if you have the Experimentationtree on Artisan, that you got a better chance for sockets on Artisan items. But I allready made Artisan Clothes and had sockets in them without this Experimentationtree! And I made mostly 2 and 3 Sockets on every Artisan clothes. But as I said, sometimes they won't have any sockets! And I can't believe thatIwould have40 times and more often no sockets in Artisan clothes! I think you and the other guyes and SOE don't understand what I mean. There are days where I got NO! sockets in Artisan clothes and there are days where I got sockets in them without any problem. Sure sometimes I have to try more often for 4 sockets, but I tried 40 times and nothing of themgot any sockets. And I can't bleieve that this works right.
Another question for that is, why should a Master Tailor have those Schematics but can't made any sockets on them? I can understand, that a Master Artisanmaybe more effective in crafting Clothes from Artisan tree, but the Master Tailor is a Master of clothes and the Tailor tree is build up from that little standard clothes. The Master Tailor is an Elite Profession so why we have schematics that we can't craft like elite Tailors? A Master of an eliteproffession should be able to madevery good standardthings as well as very good Master items, cause a Master have shown the expirience for all items! And in my eyes a Master Tailor should be more better then a Artisan who gots only the two Artisan trees.A Master Tailor is more than that is more than a Master Artisan, cause it is an elite proffession!Anyway you can't tell me that I can'tmade any Artisan clothes with sockets, cause I have made them with sockets in the past and on somedays I don't got any sockets on them.
There must be somthing wrong in the code otherwise the Profession isn't wightet right. I only wanted to know if you guys got the same problem like me and if so, we should try to have this changed by SOE!

Here is something that I have noticed - I get zero sockets EXCEPT casual shoes. When socketing was "nerfed" suddenly tailors noticed that they were getting sockets on casual shoes when they should not be. Perhaps we only get sockets on certain artisan items. At that point, I certainly wasn't going to tell the devs to nerf casual shoes to match the rest of the artisan schematics.

Sockets... it's broken and needs to be looked into by a Dev. I cannot make a muscle or flex form shirt with 4 sockets at all. I had a custom order for a 4 socketed flex form shirt and couldn't get 4 sockets after making about 11 of them, finally settled on 3 and called it good. A master tailor should never get below 2 sockets!
I do think the engineering line give Master Tailors more sockets, it is not supposed to do this, but it does affect it! Do not overlook this connection. I dropped master artisan and one box of engineering and it IS harder to get more sockets.

*Something* seems messed up with the way that sockets are working, but it has been really hard to test. Hopefully I will have a chance to really test things out soon and figure out why some clothes get lots of sockets and others do not.
